Speraw offers thoughts on NW win

"Woodbury, didn't play very well ‑‑ the one play in transition, seemed like his focus ‑‑"

I found this question to be odd, I thought Woodbury played very well.

Sounds like the question on woody came from an internet poster who doesn't fully understand basketball but thinks it is all about numbers. Woody has been playing very well.

or maybe it's a guy who's been wanting to ask about Woodbury's play in general (as many of us have). Having Speraw at the mic instead of Fran he was hoping to get a different take on Woody.

Ha...people that think gabe is better don't fully understand the team aspect of bball. Remember gabe does his damage typically against backups and gets the primary amount of his time when Iowa is comfortable. Low risk times. If it is high risk times and woody is in foul trouble Fran has gone with basabe or McCabe or Uthoff and played a smaller lineup a lot instead of going to gabe. If gabe was as good as some think Fran would go to him. He is getting better but he isn't close to as good as woody.

remember you just responded to hokdwummer - who think he knows everything about anything related to hawkeye football and basketball. remember him saying that even he learned something about basketball from Fran.......so Fran must be a good coach.

people have a mouth, or fingers in this case, so they think their thoughts are relevant. the internet has served to unleash the hokdwummers of our society. hell, it was probably he who asked the question.

what the hell are you talking about ankle?

I merely speculated that maybe somebody thought they might get a different perspective from Speraw...so they asked him about Woody. Seems like a reasonable speculation. As for Foval's post... where was there any mention or inference of Gabe in what I said? (Never mind your misquote and twisting of what I said weeks ago about listening to Fran's call-in show.)

You are something else. Can't you just enjoy the board and the discussions (even the ones that may differ with your opinion) without the constant personal attacks and attempts to pick a fight?

This is awesome, especially since its coming from a poster who, up until about the end of November, tried to derail every single thread he commented on in the football forum to a KF bash fest.

If you think woody isn't good enough than someone should replace him....I wonder who people would be implying is better than him? If you think people won't make that connection or assumption you are being ignorant as to basic common sense. Plus why would you ask something about woody after one of his better games. If you want to comment after a game he struggled in fine that is warranted. But after last night the reporter proved he didn't know much and anyone that thinks he played poorly last night or has been outplayed by gabe all year because of numbers has a lot to learn about bball.

What is the perspective you thought speraw would have?

Woody sucks I think Fran is out to lunch and should have benched him and the only reason I started him and played him was that I don't want Fran to fire me. Oh and the only reason he looked good tonight is because nw is bad. If it were up to me woody wouldn't play....is that the kind of thing you thought he would say?

speraw has been around long enough that even if he disagrees with Fran he won't say it publicly. That would be asking to be fired. Plus the big problem is how the reporter worded his question. The guy either didn't watch the game or doesn't understand basketball.

Woodbury did have one of his better games of the season. He also played 19 minutes which is tied for his 3rd highest total of the season. Probably a correlation between minutes and his play?

On a side note, he also lost another tip to a shorter player. :p

But did you see the officials toss up? It was horrible!
