At first I thought "Big Deal" until I saw the paragraph stating what the award recognizes. Yes, he is deserving and has been a great teammate an representative for the Iowa football program.

I wrote a thread on here complimenting the hell out of him and it was so over the top that everyone thought it was troll bait. But it wasn't. That kid had us in the driver's seat for the division title in the final week of the season with what was really a 4-8 or 5-7 team. He ain't the most talented guy we've ever had, but he worked a miracle with the tools he had and he had an absolutely exemplary attitude in horrific circumstances. He seems to be a top flight kid to me and I hope that the jackals who booed "the offensive coordinator" don't forever jade his memories of our esteemed institution and fan base. The world would be a better place if we had more Spencer Petras types around.

The way he handled this season will get him a lot of professional cred. Not many 22-23 year olds could have taken the pressure he had to and dealt with it like he did.

So is anybody else wondering what Spencer Petras is doing next season? For somebody who is supposed to so good with the press, he does not seem to be saying much about his future.
For that matter, now that I think about it,
does he ever say anything meaningful or inciteful? Why does the press love him so much?

Stop thinking about it. You won’t ever figure it out. Everyone else knows why the Press rewarded him. You shall forever reside in the dark.
