Special teams - what game will they cost us?

Where/how did I claim to be an "expert"? YOU'RE the one who diagnosed...

Speaking of 62yr olds with mental health issues, you still haven't explained why you called Homer an "it"? Do you think the poster is an inanimate object? An alien? We're all curious to hear your logic (or absence of it).

Nobody's taking back a kickoff against Iowa, I know that much. Thanks Koehn

I don't think you can state that as a fact. But he does seem to be improving. Still, hitting on 66% of the your FG attempts is a problem.

Don't know the poster's gender, and there are folks these days--I believe the PC term is "transgender"--where one may not be sure to refer to that person as "he" or "she". Or...that poster could be an "alt" or a computer-generated/automated "profile".

That's your explanation for why you called someone "it"? Have you ever gone by the name "Failmaster"?

I'm actually pretty darn happy with our kicking game since the early struggles.

first off he kicks it out of the end zone nearly every kickoff and accuracy has improved.

Koehn will be one of our better kickers by the time he is done. Most college kickers struggle initially. Dudes got a crazy strong leg. He's the least of my concerns.

Exactly, and he will miss some more FG this year, but his future looks pretty solid

We all are Hawkeyes. Opinions vary greatly. Detest the bye week.

I USED to detest bye weeks. Can't say I'm a fan now, either. But...it DOES provide an extra full weekend day to get work done around the house that I tend to blow off because before and after game time is also taken up for "pre-" and "post-" game meditation!

I think the special teams over the last few games have been pretty good. The onside kicks were troublesome, for sure, particularly since there were 2, but in Iowa's (weak) defense, they came at times in the game when they weren't expected, so I give full credit to Wilson for pulling the trigger on those calls. They could have easily blown up on him.

I'm concerned with the following with regard to ST:

--We seem to get NO pressure to block punts/FGs/PATs
--We don't return punts very often
--The continual susceptibility to the onside-kick
--Inconsistent punting

I know there were some rule changes on punt block-type plays a few years ago, but when is the last time we blocked one?

On the plus side:
--We haven't given up a successful fake punt for a while. I believe MSU last year was the last one?
--It also seems a long time since we gave a punt or kickoff return TD
