Spearman's on Twitter now

I think there is something that lets you stream it through Hawkeyesports.com, but you have to pay for it. They used to show the pressers on the local access UI TV channel, but I don't know if they do that anymore.

You mean to say this isn't going to be simulcast on BTN or ESPN? Drats, I suppose that means Kirk probably ain't stepping down.

So to sum up Spearman’s career here: He arrived as a 16 year old freshman in fall camp, wasn’t redshirted, and played out of position for 2 years. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say if he was a DE from the get-go, he would’ve surpassed Nate Meier by next year.

He is definitely a DE. If he didnt have to play coverage, then maybe a LB. He needs a redshirt and thrown on the line. Then I think he could do some serious damage. Probably isnt going to happen though...and we will waste some good talent.

We used him to rush the passer last year.

He didnt develop as a LB so why not use him as a speed rusher on 3rd downs? Kid had some talent but don't think he was LB material

Says the creepy guy on a website devoted to the exploits of said teenage boys. Loser.

Um no, discussing college football isn't creepy otherwise that would make 75%-80% of the country creepy not just me. But visiting his facebook page is personal and for you as an adult to do it, is creepy.

Nice try.

I don't know Reggie, never said a word to him, but he just comes off like a bad egg/ attitude problem to me or maybe it's just a maturity thing. Several times this year his body language said thug, lazy, etc. not to mention he played very poorly at lb, out of position or not.

But if we rushed him on 3rd downs, who would cover the slot receiver??

But seriously, if he's gone, I wish him nothing but the best. It's just a shame that he can't make it through.

So you don't know Reggie at all, but you're going to make generalizations about him due to his body language being "thugish".....but Reggie has maturity issues.

Yep, I think I can make generalizations about a player based on body language. I think we all do that, good and bad

The whole team had bad body language all year long, it looked like the games weren't any fun. Everyone looked like they were going through the motions and didn't care about it.

I'm pretty surprised how many people just assume he'd have made a better DE. Not every kid can put weight on and get better. He was 225 lbs. He wasn't big for a LB let alone a DE. He'd have had to put on 20 to 30 lbs to be a DE. We already have one undersized guy in Meier there sure don't need two of em. I could have seen him being a situational guy rushing on passing downs but there's no way he's a 3 down DE now or in the near future.

Not a 3 down DE. No way, too light (and we already have that on the other side).

What he showed his FR year was an ability to be disruptive going after the QB. He made his best plays in the backfield. He had a good deal of explosiveness, which is what I think people see translating for DE.

We wouldn't have to rush him every time either, he's decent enough to use in a zone blitz so we don't always tip our hand with rushing the QB. You know, maybe confuse our opponents for once? 2013 we used the Raider package quite a bit, I don't recall us doing that as much. Could be due to lack of any depth at LB.

We used Matt Roth as a 3rd down specialist until he put on a little more weight, and seasoning.

I will state that Reggie did appear to have some negative body language on the field, and he made a few personal foul / mistakes in judgement. He was one of the few people that showed any emotion for our team though.

Our staff obviously felt he was good enough to play at such a young age. It's a shame that we won't get to see him develop.

only evidence that he's leaving is someone on a message board claims to have read his facebook page. No quotes, no copy / paste, no link nothing.

people just assume that its true.

My first inclination is to troll this post... Maybe even this thread. I guess I'll just ask why you think these things?

Oh, for me it started when I read that he was asked if he had to do it again if he would pick Iowa and he said he wasn't sure. Then, the posts from this summer where he might leave, then didn't he have an owi? Then he had some unsportsmanlike calls I believe. All that combined with what I perceive from him that he dogs it sometimes....
