It's not the first time for SC courtesy of Lou Holtz: "South Carolina was placed on three years of probation in 2005 for five major and five minor violations under coach Lou Holtz. Holtz was only named in a secondary violation, accused of talking to two prospects with a media member present."


COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina received formal notification Thursday that the NCAA is investigating its football program. King and first-team cornerback Chris Culliver missed the No. 24 Gamecocks' opener against Southern Mississippi because the NCAA had not ruled on their eligibility. Spurrier said Thursday the team still hasn't heard if the pair will be eligible for Saturday's game against the No. 22 Bulldogs.

Georgia will be without star wide receiver A.J. Green who was suspended Wednesday for four games for selling his bowl jersey for $1,000.

I still don't understand why Green received four games for selling his own jersey? The Universities and store's make money off the kid, why can't he be an entrepreneur?

"The NCAA did not name the individual who bought the jersey from Green but said the person meets the organization’s definition of an agent -– “any individual who markets or promotes a student-athlete.â€￾ That put Green in violation of the NCAA rule against receiving benefits from agents.


Selling a jersey to a non-agent also would violate NCAA rules, which prohibit student-athletes from receiving money for memorabilia."

UNC had 12 suspended for last week's LSU game. There's four in this story when you count South Carolina TE Weslye Saunders (also being investigated about an agent hosted party in Miami) but according to Spurrier has been suspended indefinitely from the team since last month for reasons unrelated to the NCAA probe.
