Awesome news!! For those who don't remember, Paul was a former Hawkeye and was best friends with Chris Street. After Chris passed, Paul had a very hard time with it and ended up transferring to Southern Illinois. He is a first class human being! Good luck to him!
That's not the way I remember the circumstances of his transfer. While you may very well be correct, I was told it was more of a "if I can't start then I'm leaving". As a result he up and left without finishing the season.
The linked article doesn't read of a player 'upset' over the death of a friend and teammate.

Well its not the hit the loss of Painter would have been but it could factor into Purdue's short term success.

That wasn't how it ended for Paul at Iowa, however, he did attend the funeral, I remember that as one station made it a point to show him there since he was Street's roommate. Lusk left Iowa in January 1992 and Street passed away in February 1993.
Still, you are correct that he is a first class human being, good luck to him at Missouri State.
