It's obviously not always the good call. I love that we usually play safe and avoid stupid miscues by not being conservative. It normally helps us win.
Generaly this is even more smart because Iowa has traditionally had a great defense.
That being said, you have to know when to be aggressive. The two plays that stand out to me are trying to score in regulation a couple years ago against OSU and especially the fg on 4th and 1 vs ISU. In that game our defense was not good and in my opinion we would have been better off trying to convert 4th and 1 then to depend on our defense to stop them.
Anybody who wants us to just go for it all the time it stupid. That would hurt the team. The key is to know when to and when not to. That's the trick to being a good coach, knowing when to and when not to.
