something said about not recruiting

I have accomplished the unimaginable and the unthinkable. I have successfully (or as close as humanly possible) transcribed Redhawk55's post into something that is almost understandable. It only took me 24 minutes and 5 times reading each paragraph.

When Dawson, a certain posters personal whipping boy, stepped foot on campus the RBs were few and far between. Coker (future Junior) and McCall (future sophomore)left leaving Iowa with only one RB, Canzeri.

Bullock was a WR being groomed for the slot receiver, because at the time Cotton was a little used player who was often injured. Cotton also didn’t really show up on the radar until he returned a kickoff for a TD.

Garmon and Malloy had not shown up yet. Hill was still a commit to ISU. Weisman was nobody but a two star transfer FB from Air Force who was going to be used to fill a big hole at RB.

Iowa ended up going to IWCC to fill a need and picked up Dawson. After they got Dawson Iowa then landed the following RBs: Garmon, Hill, and Malloy. There were some problems though. Hill had decommited from ISU and Malloy got in trouble with the law leaving the question if he would even show up since he wasn’t a scholarship player.

In the spring Canzeri ended up going down with an ACL injury and Hill was hurt this fall. This refutes the notion that Dawson won’t play!

Next fall Dawson and Bullock will be juniors, Garmon and Canzeri will be sophomores, then Hill and Malloy will be red shirt freshmen. It’s been some time since we have had a junior, let alone two so Dawson was a player in an area with a lot of need.

I hope that Kirk Ferentz can recruit somebody better than the RBs that we have now. That’s the whole idea isn’t it? To recruit as good or better than the players that we already have?

Who knows, Dawson might be Rodgers replacement at FB since Rodgers will be the only senior next year.

Sokol is another JUCO who fills a big need. We lose Weinke and JVB this year to graduation, leaving just Derby, Rudock and some unsigned high school kid. Derby transferred out which would have left Iowa with just Rudock, Beathard, and a new HS kid at QB.

This JUCO recruiting will fill two of the biggest areas we need filled, which makes the point of why we should recruit JUCOs for areas of need!

WTF??? REALLY?? That makes no cents at all.

with the ability of having just one hand, limits my ability to use the shift key. not having spell check also limits my ability to limit spelling errors,

I am sorry you can only use one hand/have one hand I don't know personally, but I bet it is hard. But seriously dudue, SLOW DOWN, take your time and proof read your own posts before hitting "post quick reply". After reading many of your posts you know a lot about the team. No one is going to take you seriously if they can't read what you post. Also calm down, you seem angry in most of your posts if someone disagrees with your analysis of a player.

Keep in mind, recruiting is on all on potential, many kids are going to flop/bust or whatever you want to call it. Unfortunately, Iowa can't afford to miss on many recruits, if they flop it hurts worse for Iowa than at Texas, Alabama, USC, etc...

Iowa Western just won the JUCO National Championship and is loaded with D1 talent. How many Iowa coaches were at that game?

I work with the mom of one of the starters on the offensive line. She said that the entire Iowa State coaching staff was at the NC Game and she was surprised that she didn't see one person wearing anything Iowa in the area where all the other coaches were sitting near the parents. She did say it was amazing to see all the other big programs who had a representative there. If Iowa was there she said they came on their own and didn't ask to sit with the other coaches evaluating players.

I doubt they were there. Iowa is loaded with game ready players and has zero need for Jucos that have offers from the most respected programs in country.

IWCC is going to continue to produce some of the top talent in the country as they have invested a ton of money into facilities and have a great reputation around the country in all sports. It might be wise move for KF to have a relationship with them. I would rather see Iowa give any remaining unfilled scholarships to these kids then a walk on who has worked hard but will never be a consistent player in the Big 1G.

I know, I'm a jerk. Go get some recruits.
