Somebody's going to be pistoff

r u insane - PSU had to prepare all week. They beat a team that was very good. tO$U lost - sat on their ass - waited to see who was gonna show the nation who is the true B1G champ. and now .... you and all the tO$U lovers are gonna be pissed when you are not declared B1G champs - and the eventual playoff team representing the B1G. Yikes - sucks to be you when the hammer falls

I expect no change in who is the top 4. yes. Never said that is what should happen.

You want in? ... don't lose... and certainly don't lose TWICE.

Oh, and someone needs to add this side note. Big 12...not in. Saw a graphic yesterday about non-con records vs other P5 conferences. Big10 was #1, Big12 was last.

No matter what the format for determining a national champ, there will always be teams with a legit argument that they got screwed.

This is true, and also a big reason to go to 8 team playoff. while a 9, 10 team may still have a reasonable argument to be included, it would be much less relevant than a close 5, 6 team has in the current landscape.

Most years it will be clear cut and a big separation between the top 4-6 and everyone else. Very rarely could a 9, 10...really have a case.

This year, overall, its a pretty big gap between #1 and everyone else.

Also, with only 2 playoff games, there is more of a chance a team could simply get huge breaks and catch fire for 2 games....if you add that extra game, in my opinion, you get a better representation.

Look at last year, pretty clear that Alabama and Clemson were the best 2 teams, and Stanford probably should have been in over MSU, and probably Oklahoma. 8 team playoff would have sorted all that.

Side note, would love to see a Western Michigan(or non P5) get a crack. Sure, they have little shot, but I'd like to see that game over a fringe #8 P5 team.

OSU would have no right to be pissed if they drop. Win your conference if you want in. I'm praying for Bama,Clemson,Washington and Penn St.

Not if you set criteria to get in.

8 teams...

-P5 champs
-FCS playoff champion
-2 at large with rules defined before the season starts.

No one could complain. If you want in you know what has to be done.

Any at large teams in the playoff is going to open the door for an Ohio St situation in which winning your division is making more work for yourself while getting 2nd and not having to win the conference championship is better.

Also at large teams won't have to win on championship Saturday to get into the playoffs like all 8 divisions winners and the top 2 teams from the big 12 have to.

I understand where the "4 champions"!arguement comes from and I don't completely disagree, but overal record should be considered (penn state has 2 losses) and overal resume should be considered.

Plus I'm 100% happy that Pedo State is the ones getting the shaft for once.

Agreed. Bama, Clemson, WA all locks now. OSU is the one that is on shaky ground as they sat on their buns while the other 3 and Penn State all played (and won).

At worst, OSU drops to position 4 and gets hammered by Bama in a semi.

IMO, the 4 best teams were selected. I have absolutely zero issues with the playoff this year.

Would have rather seen OSU fall to 4 to get a beatdown. Hoping Clemson piles on them. I'll pull for all other conf. teams but OSU.

PSU shouldn't have lost to an avg Pitt team and more importantly they shouldn't have got obliterated by Mich.

If PSU would have had a very close hard fought loss at Mich then maybe but getting beat by more than 5 TDs?

Sooners with two bad losses now that Houston doesn't look that tough should be same as for PSU.

OSU won at Wisky and at MSU and beat a Mich team that crushed PSU while OSU lost at PSU on a blocked FG runback.

Plus I just don't want PSU getting any of this when they should just be coming off of big sanctions. The NCAA sucks for doing such a blatant reversal of their initial shutdown of PSU.

Doesn't matter. As long as the criteria are set out at the beginning of the season everyone knows what they need to do to get in.

The criteria up to now was win your conference, because conference championships matter they told us. That is what they said when OSU jumped Baylor/TCU. Now when OSU is involved again, they tell us conference championships don't matter......There is no criteria, it is all BS smoke and mirrors and I can't believe some fall for this sham. The last thing I want is PSU in the college football playoffs....but they earned it on the field, OSU certainly didn't earn it, but they get rewarded.

Penn State has 2 losses. They didn't earn it on the field. Unless you want to completely discount out of conference play. Championships should matter, but they should be everything.

OSU played 1 less game than PSU as well, who knows if they win or lose if they have to play Wisconsin. PSU beat OSU head to head as well. Those 2 things should trump a non conference game played 3 months ago. Plus the committee is the one who told us conference championships mattered and the extra game mattered when OSU leap frogged teams 2 years ago.....

It is a rigged system. Anyone think a 2 loss Colorado who won the Pac12 was going over a 2 loss Michigan? Not a chance, it is about the name on the front of the jersey.

All games should count. If PSU had the same record as OSU, then I completely agree. PSU goes. Take the 4 best teams.

Iowa beat Michigan, should be be in the orange bowl? No. because Michigan proved over the entire season they were the better team.

I get it, I do, but it is crap that OSU gets a "bye" week while Washington and Clemson had to basically have an extra play in game. OSU wasn't perfect and neither were they. If you can't win your division I don't think you deserve a spot in the CFP, let alone earning a bye as well.

It's one thing to screw over TCU, it's quite another to screw over Ohio State.
There was no way the don of college football was going to not going to have OSU in the CFP. He knows they have the best chance of beating Alabama.

I don't like OSU at all, but they earned it. They beat better teams than the other 1 loss teams. They had a better loss than the other 1 loss teams too.

Hypothetical question: if Bama had lost to Florida yesterday, would ANYONE had said bama should be out or Florida in? Unless you can say that, then you really can't argue against OSU
