OSU now at #2, if they get bounced down to 5 - wow they'll be mad

Clemson won the ACC, 1 loss, if they get jumped and slide to 5, they'll be pist!

Washington - 1 loss, a very good team who can run and pass won their conference and Champ game, they think they should be in

Penn State - 2 losses claims same as Washington, plus they beat OSU, they think they belong same as Clemson and Washington

LOL - tO$U has no chance - they lost to a better team that won the B1G championship - WOW - no brainer here.
#1 - AL
#2 - Clem
#3 - Wash
#4 - PSU

This is a done deal - unless OK gets introduced into the mix instead of Wash

No matter what the format for determining a national champ, there will always be teams with a legit argument that they got screwed.

Status quo in the rankings.
r u insane - PSU had to prepare all week. They beat a team that was very good. tO$U lost - sat on their ass - waited to see who was gonna show the nation who is the true B1G champ. and now .... you and all the tO$U lovers are gonna be pissed when you are not declared B1G champs - and the eventual playoff team representing the B1G. Yikes - sucks to be you when the hammer falls

OSU is in. Only possibly for PSU is to replace Washington. That most likely will not happen..

It's one thing to screw over TCU, it's quite another to screw over Ohio State.
They screwed themselves when they lost head to head. Committee 'rewards head to head match ups and conference champions' if this is true (it should be) then OSU gets in on Name/Blueblood as they should not be playing.

Agree with this and the order

Not if you set criteria to get in.

8 teams...

-P5 champs
-FCS playoff champion
-2 at large with rules defined before the season starts.

No one could complain. If you want in you know what has to be done.

Sure people will complain. The team that ends up 9th will complain. What rules will you have that will split hairs on who should be in the top 8?

Doesn't matter. As long as the criteria are set out at the beginning of the season everyone knows what they need to do to get in.

The way it is now is a committee making choices with no set guidelines and it leaves everything up to their whim. Have you seen any sports-related show or website for the last two months? It's all they talk about: who will get chosen. If you set out clear rules then there's no debate or mystery about how or why a team got in.

Sure, you could debate whether the criteria for those two at large spots are fair, but it would be nothing compared to the media garbage going on now. It's also a whole lot easier to argue credibly that you're not 5th best than it is to argue that to argue you're not 9th best. Aside from that, if you want to bitch about being 9th than you should have either won your conference or the FCS playoff. At least there would be a sure fire way for each team to get in.

How stupid would it be if the NFL said it was ignoring conference championships and wild cards (at large spots) and instead Roger Goodell said he was going to form a committee to choose who they think should be in the playoffs? Because that's essentially what this is. Come on.

Here's the thing. College Football wants every website to talk about it. NFL has fantasy to bolster ratings, college has this.
How many hours are dedicated to discuss playoff seeding in the NFL?
