Some thoughts on Individual Players

Moss has me so fired up. That kid has a fearlessness about him out there now. He was a bit tentative earlier in the year but now I think he's got a bit of a gunslinger mentality where he's just going to let it rip. His slashing to the basket and defense against the other teams best guards is what makes him so invaluable. Him and Baer both were who got the crowd into it with their hustle plays. Baer is just the perfect 6th man if there ever was one
JBo is who he is. Their are two things I hope he works on going forward and that is his strength and his quickness in his legs. If he can improve his leaping ability speed and quickness it'll only help him not only on defense but offense too. I love how he plays too I can live with the occasional turnover those are going to happen. I'd rather have an aggressive turnover then a tentative shot taken. Which he never seems to take he's got no fear.
Jok isn't perfect but damn he's good. When he's on there's just no stopping him. It's been fun to see how he's gotten to where he is now. He's clearly the heart and soul of this team
JBo's offseason workouts need to consist of these. Add in Ellingson as well.

Legs can be improved on it's a fact. It's what frustrated me about Woody and even Glen Worley years ago. If I were JBo I'd make that my full time job this summer besides just shooting. He may not ever be an above the rim player but it's something he could control and improve his overall game

We finally played some defense last night...far and away the best defensive game we have played. What really struck me last night though, was that we moved the ball on offense better than we have also. I've always been critical of Fran's teams that they settle for shot early in the clock and aren't patient enough. They were patient last night and moved the ball. The good news is that we may have a few people, Moss/Jok/Uhl that can beat their guy off the dribble late in the clock and create something so we get a decent shot off late. We haven't had that...let's see if we continue to develop that skill. That was fun to watch last night. This team has really improved in a few weeks...pretty impressive.

Pemsl has some snark along with some nifty post moves...other players won't like playing against him....

It was a good game last night and I hope we can keep it rolling. I only hope we can develop more of an inside game. It's great when your three pointers are falling but a bitch when they don't. Just ask ISU how that goes. Plus they missed several up close shots too. I try not to get too up or down from just one game.

The best thing I liked about last night was our improved defense. There will be nights when our shots aren't falling but if you play a good defense you still have a shot at winning.

I got to watch the game last night after I got home and thought how much different it would have been if our shots weren't falling. That's what keeps me grounded. We were hitting and they weren't. We showed some success in the paint but I would like to see Fran work more on that. Would like to see a two to one ratio; two shots in the paint to every three point shot. Most very successful teams have offensive schemes that focus on getting the ball low. We look to be very good at this when Cook comes back.

We didn't even shoot that great.

Yeah but they shot worse. Our defense had a lot to do with that which is why defense is so important. We had four or five guys in double figures which was really good to see. If we can keep that up along with good defense we are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

That's what I was thinking. Shot 47% and 40% from 3. On the season they are 46% and 37%.

The difference was defensive effort. Which is nice because that is repeatable even on off nights.

Wagner and Baer have really stepped up to lead the way on defense. 5656 thinks this team doesn't have the ability to play decent defense. I don't get that at all.

You're forgetting someone and his name rhymes with boss.

I really hope Christian Williams figures out where he fits because with his long arms he could be a lockdown defender

Its a long season. We are going to be really happy to have Christian around. Same with Ellingson.
