Some reflections that you may wish to ignore...

We did shoot 70% form the line which is better than some pretty good teams e.g. Kansas and Syracuse have shot for the season. Yeah, the Spartans were called for a ton of fouls but the real problem I saw with this game was the calls that weren't made: the obvious travels, the over and back, the goal tending on Basabe's shot at the buzzer and the body slam on Gesell's final shot. There are three refs out there and none of the had the guts to make the calls that affected the game when the chips were down.

I know we are never supposed to blame the officials for a loss. If you do, you will get posters who claim you are just making excuses. However, I will always persist in saying that some calls near the end of the game, whether they be good calls or bad calls, can in fact determine the outcome of the game. I want to hear one logical argument that Basabe's tip in, which was clearly a goal tending, did not cost Iowa the game. If that does not do it for you, look at the clip of Gesell getting hammered on the lay up attempt. so, I am with Mister Lucky all the way on his thoughts.

And, a reminder: What kind of game has basketball become where a team commits a foul (meaning those fouls that are actually called) every one and one half minutes? If you want to compliment Izzo for taking advantage of Iowa's "weakness" by fouling repeatedly, I just give up.

When Izzo's missing two of his (and the B1G's) best players, I definitely wouldn't feel shameful for giving him credit. He's finding ways to win when his team is nothing more than a walking bandage. This season has been easily one of his best coaching jobs at MSU.

We do a very poor job of entering the ball to the post. This is nothing new. When White or Uthoff or Basabe had Trice or some other guard on them we have to get them the ball right away. Too many times we failed to enter the ball to them and simply reversed the ball.

Really bad coaching Imo.

Being deliberate about posting and feeding the post just arent points of emphasis for this staff the way driving and drawing contact is.

Even though Iowa plays two power forwards and a center at most times they probably average less than 5 post ups a game.

Don't forget the shot to the head Woody took. I know refs whistled a foul but it should have been a flagrant with IA getting the ball if I were to compare a similar call against IS in their game last night.

They should have at least reviewed it.

Poor Tom. He's courageously coaching 4 star players coming off the bench to play minutes they're not used to.
