Some Hawk "fans" disappoint me

I have talked to numerous people this week who are not going this weekend because they are "not excited anymore about Iowa football" (yes, 4 people actually said that...) or they are "busy."

While I know some people truly are busy, and I get that, the first time I heard someone say they were not excited I wanted to slap them.

If there is one thing I cannot stand it is fairweather fans! I am asking ALL TRUE IOWA FANS to welcome these guys back to Kinnick tomorrow like they deserve to be welcomed back when BIB hits! I had the longest hangover ever after that game, but by about Wednesday I was "back in the saddle again!"

I am ready for the last nine games and I remain extremely excited about this team and what they can accomplish! Every realistic goal we had before the season is still in play! We were unlikely to go unbeaten, and if we were to lose one game, Arizona is the best game to get that out of the way. Even if we drop another game, the season is not lost.

Either way though, win or lose, I LOVE THIS TEAM and I LOVE AND APPRECIATE THESE SENIORS and what they have done for our program.

Who is with me? GO HAWKS!!!

These people arent real fans.

There are many "fake" fans in the Iowa fanbase....they exist in every fanbase

Dude I completely agree with you....also, I would have actually punched/slapped them but anyway....How can one say they are no longer excited about about Iowa football this season? Seriously? We are still going to win the Big Ten and at worse play for the Roses! If that doesn't get one excited then they can just jump infront of on coming traffic! Go Hawks!

Anybody who bought Ball State tickets at full price and not as a part of the season ticket package is a sucker.

This game always had lull attached to it. Expect a big hole at the top of the student section and a general disinterest within the crowd. Same thing was true for ASTATE last year and the Hawks were still undefeated at that point.

Said ti right there, fairweather fans! thats exactly what they are!! Man that is just some ridiculous crap. I'm with you, that loss stung like heck. But by Wednesday and force myself to rewatch that game and digest it and make the best of it, i'm raedy by wednesday!!! IM READY NOW!!!! Soon as Iowa wins tomorrow those same 4 people will be amped for next weekend vs Penn State, tell them to go be busy and stay home. lol.

Don't worry. These 'fans' will be back if we are heading into the Minnesota game undefeated in the Big 10.

I have some friends like that too. I could tell they were going to bail at the first sign of trouble when I brought up Wegher to them in the summer and they said "Who?"

That takes fake fandom to a new level there

Wegher? You know the guy who is from Iowa and had about 50% of the carries last year and set a freshman record for rushing tds

Haha right? They went to the bar with me for every game last season, plus the bowl game on a work night. They know Stanzi and DJK and McNutt...but that's really about it. Sad.

I'd be excited to go to the Ball State game just so I could scout our young players. Unfortunately, the wife has me on a leash this weekend ... however, I'll still be watching the game on TV. I wouldn't miss it .....

I just ignore guys like that because not only aren't they real Hawk fans.....they're not even real college football fans.

The rest of us have waited 8 months for this time to finally get here. We only get 12 weeks to enjoy this before having to wait another 8 months. There's no way I'm going to let one loss dampen my excitement for either the Hawks or college football in general.

I was as down after the game as anyone in here. For 3 days, my wife didn't want to be around me, my kids didn't want to be around me.....he!!, my dog didn't even want to be around me (insert joke about them never wanting to be around me anyway). But around Tuesday/Wednesday, the juices started flowing again and I'm ready for some football. Anyone who says otherwise needs to take up knitting or ballet!!

I'll admit, I was down for a couple of days (especially since I was stuck in an SUV coming back from Tucson for a majority of that time), I was even at a point where I just wasn't excited about the future. But that passed and here we are less than 24 hours from kick and I'm pumped and ready to go watch the Hawks take their first steps toward redemption. Ball State is going to be toast!

I'll admit, that I was totally ****** about Saturday, but a real fan should've been. Mostly because the team gave the W to Arizona mostly, the O/D didn't lose the game for us. I couldn't even watch NFL or Monday night football I hated football so much. As Tuesday came around, my life went back to normal and couldn't wait for Saturday. People who have given up hope are stupid, and probably the ones that only watch the Hawks because it's what everyone else is doing. Seriously, the "realist" make me sick, because they are only "realist" when it helps them. I bet if the team goes 11-1 they will hop right back on the bandwagon that brought them here...

I never worry about what the "fairweather fans" say. They follow the headlines then jump on the bandwagon when things are going good and jump off at the first bump.

If the Hawks drop a game, I am disapointed like everyone else but thats part of being a fan. I would question whether or not fairweather fans even really like football. For me football is the best game out, and its not like I am going to root for a team thats several hundred miles away.

LO-effing-L!

She obviously has no idea what you do with your time from Monday-Friday.

I find it interesting that a guy that posts as much (and in as much detail as you) haven't convinced your wife that season tickets is something that's relatively important to you...

I was in Arizona last Saturday, and I'll be driving to the game from Madison, WI on Saturday morning. I'll be as enthusiastic as ever.

I loves me some Hawks. Always have.

This could still be a really great year. Let's get behind the team!

So I take it that tickets may be available for my son, daughter and son-in-law outside the stadium,I take it?

Hope you are right.

Sure....

Wait, which list is he on?

I kid.

I think the reason that some 'fans' are so disheartened is that they have this perception that Iowa beat themselves with sloppy play (there is some truth to that) which wasn't supposed to happen this year and therefore Iowa is not as good as they thought they were. They'll come around when they see that we have a legit shot at winning the big 10. Then you can tell them how much they suck. Sounds like a win win to me.
