Solution to KF

Yeah, Desmond King and Josey Jewell had "5*" written all over them...

Both great players. But, both played as freshmen. Underrated recruits, obviously. But, have they gotten a lot better? If they had no coaching at all, 3-4 years playing b1g ball would make them better. So, with coaching should mean a significant improvement.

So could you scroll out each and every element so I don't say something stupid? How many stars did Tevaun Smith have? How about Kirksey and Hitchens? What other disqualifiers are there? We gotta make sure we can say NO player development has taken place. You know, to keep the KF bashing on the up-and-up.

Here is one of the crazies that thinks Ferentz is better than Miles, I'm sure there are more
I was wondering when Dean (KirFer's agent or wife...can't figure out which yet) was going to give us his 2 cents...because that's about all his posts are worth.

Hey Okie, gotta say this alt has lasted longer than I thought it would. I always know when I'm really getting to the old Dirty30 brigade. You guys are toooooooo easy.

Christian Kirksey is 2nd in the NFL in total tackles. I am too lazy to do the homework since 2005 I would guess Iowa is 4th or 5th in the B1G in terms of the number guys drafted into the NFL.

Hadn't noticed that about Kirksey. That's pretty cool - except for the whole "worst team in the league" thing.

But, at Iowa he came in as a 3-star, played some spec teams as a frosh and then started for 3 years. The only all-b1g award he ever got was honorable-mention as a senior. Then a 3rd-round pick, so you could say he was drafted more on potential than performance.

As far as the total drafted thing you may be right ( I don't feel like looking it up either ).

Are you serious? With Les Miles you are getting the exact same guy as Kirk Ferentz. I guess the press conferences would be more entertaining. Les Miles or Kirk Ferentz? Give me KF. Les Miles couldn't find a quarterback in a talent rich state like Louisana or next door Texas. He didn't even need a 4* kid, a three star Texas kid and he probably still has job. No Les Miles.

Miles won way more games playing a tougher schedule

It was a play on the president elect's situation.

I think I'm burned out by the election and KF. The latter with a smile.

Seriously though how can 1 coach go so over expectations last year only to get crushed and enter this year with such high expectations and do a face plant and then have the possibility of finishing as well as anyone with no passing game and that not because of an old style Nebby or OK running game.

I"m learning to have no expectations and enjoy the ride.

I'm not necessarily advocating for Miles over KF, but keep hearing the argument that he wouldn't be able to get top 10 recruiting classes here. Maybe they wouldn't be needed to succeed here. Maybe it could simply be a matter of getting recruiting classes in the 20-30 range and adjusting the schemes. As stated Miles has greatly struggled with finding quality QB play, but always played an aggressive defensive style of football that kept his teams in games. We struggle offensively and have a bend/don't break mentality in which we give away yards but take away the home run play.

Maybe since offensive yards aren't exactly at a premium we might benefit from a more aggressive style. The bottom line is we need to find something that brings recruits here and gives them something to be excited about, which I think our current staff is lacking. Top tier programs may control the recruiting pipelines, but there are ways in which a nontraditional program can work their way up the recruiting boards.

They are the same dude. At least KF can develop players. If you are going to go 7-5, I rather enjoy it with the two star from Solon.

Miles has won 72% of his games as a head coach and has a winning record in bowl games. KF has won 56% of his games as a head coach and hasn't won a bowl game since 2010

Miles won 57% of his games at OSU. Gundy followed him, turn the program around and has won 68% at OSU.
