Sokol Excited to be a Hawk

Wienke and JVB are both seniors next season so as of right now the only QB you have for 2013 is Rudock. So if I was Sokol I would be very excited as well. As of now all he has to compete with is Rudock for the starting job in 2013. QB needs to be a high priority for next years recruiting class.

If JVB is the starter and Rudock is supposed to be heir apparrent...Where does that leave Sokol? Is there something (that we don't know) going on with the QB's that Iowa needs a start ready quarterback?

Maybe Rudock isn't all he's expected to be. Bringing in a Juco seems like they (the coaching staff) are expecting to need a QB in 2013 or possibly 2012.

Weinke hasn't shown anything in 3 years and expecting him to be more than the backup (to anyone) is a very long shot.

Maybe it's called COMPETITION! You idiots think that the key is to have only 1 good player at each skill position. For Pete's sake you want to stack em like cord wood if you can get them. Look at Alabama.

As a Bear fan, I know all about the importance of a quality backup QB and the fragility of that position. One hit, and a championship season is over,if a team has no quality backup. Same thing with Ricky in 2009. Undefeated with a ten point lead on the way to 10-0 one second, and Ricky goes down with a big ten title and national title the next .....very glad to have Sokol on board,and hope he is ready to win that job in two years.
