So why didn't KF use CJB against Maryland?

It is a head scratcher... Especially when the post game comments aired on Soundoff included Kirk saying CJ could have played. It's tough watching Indiana and Maryland run all over us and the. Watch our offense fizzle as Jake throws the ball 56 times. That is not Iowa football and that is why we are this far into the season and we still have no identity.

KirFer said he was dinged up. He said he could go if needed to, but obviously didn't want to play him not at 100%. I'm guessing it was like the situation against Purdue. Rudock was dinged up, could go if necessary (if the starter goes down), but didn't want to risk further injury.

I like this version better than the alternative. Regardless, CJ needs to play going forward. We would be 4-3 if he didn't win the Pitt game and we would probably be better than 5-2 if he played against Maryland and ISU.

Yeah, we have a QB with an NFL caliber arm, who excels at medium/long passes so we run him out of the option and call short horizontal passes.

There were a few runs that he was getting hit; but I do think on his longer run he took a big hit. Probably should fire Ferrents.

Honestly though, as long as Iowa's defense is playing like it is and the playcalling remains the same, it doesn't matter who the quarterback for the Hawkeyes is. Johnny Unitas himself could rise from the ashes and it still wouldn't matter if teams are gashing the Hawks on the ground the way they are.
