So why did Iowa never hire Altman?

I didn't want Altman then and I don't want him today. Oregon has that steady flow of Nike money making recruiting easy.

I know it's just sour grapes since Oregon will likely be a final four team, and Iowa didn't even make the big ten final four, but I want answers.

I'll take Oklahoma in that game. Oregon opened at -1 and it's now a Pick em. And Hield is coming off a bad game...for him.

Altman wasn't considered a "must hire" coach in his later Creighton years. He was just another successful mid-major coach, many of whom flame out when they get a shot at a big school. Plus, his "sorry, I changed my mind" day at Arkansas was an embarrassment.

And while he's had a great year at Oregon, barely a year ago there were calls for him to be fired over a Pierre Pierce-like incident.

I know that winning helps a fanbase look the other way, but I'm not convinced that Altman would have won at Iowa, or even been that good of a fit here.

Bob Stoops part II

Barta has clearly screwed up enough for 10 lifetimes in how he has handled almost everything from hirings to the Rhabdo press conference. He may be a great administrator but really a poor head figure for the AD. I think about the only thing he may have gotten correct is hiring Heller.....and it took him a decade too long to do that!
