So who's getting worried about JW?

You never know if these guys are 100% healthy or not. Its pretty obvious he does give 100%.
I've been a big fan of Wieskamp since he was a sophomore in HS, but I'd have to (reluctantly) disagree that he's giving 100%.

What I'm seeing the last few weeks is a player that hustles in spots on offense, but if the initial move is taken away, becomes frustrated and passive the rest of the possession.

He's never been a very effective on-ball defender. Part of that is his limited athleticism, but his effort defensively also isn't consistent. He rarely takes the appropriate defensive stance and "snaps" his body to cut off the opponent. Ultimately, he ends up out of position trying to recover as the ball-carrier drives past him.

He also very rarely does the little extra-effort things to win 50:50 balls. Think about it. When was the last time you saw Joe go diving on the floor to tip or corral a loose ball?

Something is going on with him, and my guess is it's mental. He seems to have lost his confidence and that competitive edge for whatever reason. I hope he can turn it around soon. We need him in a big way.

He isn't strong. He needs to hit the weights and consume lots of calories in the off season. He gets bumped and he falls on the floor immediately.

Little did we know that a few short weeks later we would have more important things to worry about.

Saw something sad today. One of our high school seniors, who had his chance at a state championship cut short, was walking with his parents when I was coming home from work. He was dribbling his basketball as he went, and everytime he passed a driveway with a hoop he stopped and took a shot.

It made me grateful that by youngest is a freshman and will have three more years to play high school sports.

There aren't a lot of kids that shoot hoops in driveways nowadays. Too bad about this young man. He will be a champion in something else perhaps.
