so who is this year's Trojan Horse?

Last fall Coach Davis was raving about CJ---and it seemed like it took until the last few games before we actually threw to him much. Remember Fleming--Hawkeye sports had video after video of him catching passes and going over the goal line---didn't play at all.

I'm gonna go with Shumpart. I think he has a HUGE year this year. Also I think Tevin Smith WR will also be a big upgrade. But IDK how our QB's will look, hopefully better than last year.

I think Tevaun Smith has a chance to do something this season, he was seeing playing time later in the season and must have the speed the OC is looking for.

While the comparison may not be on par for some of you perfectionists, you know what he meant, right? At times, if feels like we're all married in here and nit pick each other apart.

As for the hype machine, not sure but someone who picked Shumpert to break out....I would wager against it. The guy just cant catch. He was #3 out of camp last year...and by the end of the year he was in witness protection. He was missing.

As usual, there are 2 sides to every story. The people of Troy got a gift that was unexpectedly bad, while the Greeks experienced a true breakout. :)

It would be nice to have it be one of the QB's, but that probably isn't very likely since we aren't even sure which one/ones will be playing.

This thread makes my head hurt.

We haven't even discussed the Trojan Rabbit. :)

I agree on Shumpert, I have never seen where he has learned to run good routes either

Probably foolish on my part but I hold out hope on Shumpert and maybe I am wrong in my line of thinking but here is why:

You can't teach speed and and athleticism. If anything would be the easiest to improve... it would be the ability to catch.

I don't think you can really teach how to catch either. You just can, or you can't (I never could consistently myself). And if he hasn't figured it out after this long, the odds are really working against him. I hope you're right though, of course.

My pick for who is supposed to be really good, but won't end up being that good: Our LB corp. They just haven't shown me anything over the last couple of seasons that makes me all that confident in them. I do really like Kirksey and think he'll be solid, but I still see Morris getting caught up in traffic and Hitchens bad tackling form continuing (hope I'm way off on this, of course).

My darkhorse pick: Canzeri. The guy looks real cut now so he'll be able to shed first contact a lot easier, and he's got the wheels.

You learn how to catch at an early age. If he hasn't figured it out by now it ain't happening. If he couldn't catch in high school, I'm not sure why we recruited him.

This is mine as well. I think our OL is going to be better than expected.
