So whats wrong

i prefer to call it, "having other options". i'm not ever going to root against iowa, but if football goes the way of b-ball from a few years ago, i'll just stop watching it. if you can't enjoy sports, it's no longer entertainment. and if it's not longer entertaining, find something else. that said, it would take more than just a couple years of terrible football for me to give up watching.

I will always root for Iowa and I will always watch them. Although, you are right about bball especially during the lickliter years it was hard to stay loyal.

don't get me wrong, i used to live and die by iowa b-ball and football. but, maybe it's just me growing up, i just don't get so worked up anymore. not just sports, about pretty much everything. and i think i'm much more likable to those around me this way, so i don't plan on changing.

I would agree, I still get worked up from time to time (especially last season for football). But for the most part I have grown up and have become way more laid back about things.

Honestly, sports teams need a mix of fair weather fans and die hard fans. Without fair weather fans, winning wouldn't matter as much to the AD/Front Office.

true. some with people who stick with certain brands, whether it be soap, food, or what-have-you. with some folks, you don't have to do much to keep them loyal. with others, you have to keep your product excellent or they'll split the second they find something cheaper/better. i'm not a loyalty guy. just not. only to my family.

So whats wrong with being a fair weather fan ?

Nothing it's a free country. Die hards probably don't like the fair weather fans so much cause if your heart isn't with em all the way like theirs are. I fall into the die hard category. But I don't begrudge the fair weather ones. I understand it. I know Colts fans that jumped ship to be Bronco's fans cause of you know who. I remember Niner fans becoming Chiefs fans back when Montana went there. It's sports to me it's whatever floats your boat and makes you happy.

see, when i comes to the NFL, i'm a fan of players over teams as i don't have a favorite team. i like Peyton more than i like the colts. i dislike Brady. i generally root for which team has the most Hawks on it, or if there are players on that team that i like. i'd be willing to make the trip to see the Chiefs or Vikings when they have a good team or a good matchup. i'm not a fan of either team, but i like to see good football.

I'm with MeatMan for the NFL, Don't have a team just root for whichever team has a Hawk on them. That's why I will be rooting for the Ravens, to see Considine and Yanda get a ring.

exactly who i'll be rooting for. that, and Jim is such a d-bag, though he's calmed it down this year.
