So, what happens when Iowa beats Penn State this Saturday?

Those who are sure BF won't just slide into the HC position, please remind me what kind of extensive search there was before BF became OC?

Or are we assuming that the guy w/ ZERO coordinator experience was the most qualified candidate after a wide-open search intent on improving a glaring program weakness, ?
False equivalency.

The amount of dominos it would take for Wisky to lose a few games is unreal. Major injuries or off the field crap sidelining multiple players on both sides of the ball. They are good. They are coached up well. I just don't see them stumbling. Especially the way Iowa typically is capable of doing. They aren't that. Truth is what it is.

The only team with a pulse W has beaten is Michigan. Oh, wait. They are only rated because of their brand. And, according to Team Caddy, Iowa was beaten by a mediocre team.
(This is not pointed at you, Hawk Fan)

say this is how it shakes out, why is it beyond comprehension that BF wouldn’t go w a stud OC whom he could sell in amazing pay(make too 5 paid OC) and go lore modern?

who says he has to run the show maybe pokes around the line like dad. Would this be the worst thing for Iowa? I say no as he’s a good face for Iowa as home grown and bleeds black and gold.

I also think last week was a complete shot show but none the less we turned it over 4 times, MI put it on the ground 2x and that BS no call in the end zone from a different outcome. Not excuses but facts.

I think Iowa beats PS close and runs it up on NW on the way to win out. I like this team. So funk all you haters :)
My guy talked to Oliver about that and he was pissssssed

I got ya. Your not wrong about that either but their schedule is pretty condusive for them to make it to Indy I'm not predicting they'll make more noise beyond that but I think Iowa was going to be their toughest challenger in the west and I don't think we are in their class. Our schedule is tough and we can get better as a group and still lose 2 more pretty easily. We'll see.

Nothing changes.

Still have to play Wisconsin, and I guarantee you Iowa drops three or four of the rest.

To be honest, the people all butt hurt about this loss being the end of the season apparently were too stupid to realize that Iowa was never winning the west anyway. The team just isn’t that good. We beat 4 wet blankets and all of a sudden people think we have a shot at the CFP or something.

Like I said before, having conference divisions where you play everyone in your division every year is fun if you’re somewhat competitive, but your season gets the door slammed on it real quick if you slip up. You’re either fighting for a conference title, or hoping to make a toilet bowl. No in between.

Also, might as well enjoy this shit while it lasts, no matter how bad it may be. The Brain will be taking over here real shortly and we’re gonna be back to the 1970s before you know it. In five years you bastards are gonna be wishing like hell for 7 win seasons.
I think winning the West will be incredible hard with our schedule. I did believe and still do that Iowa is better that Michigan. It was a win I badly wanted and the chance to do so doesn't come around often. I think most of the games left are coinflips. It really comes down to luck or a QB that can finish. I haven't seen that from Stanley yet. In every loss since he became a starter he has had a chance to win or seal the game and he hasn't. I don't know if he has it in him.

I hear what you’re saying, but by strict definition Michigan won that game and are better than Iowa. The Hawks played essentially JV teams (Iowa State is terrible) and had nothing to go on. We’ve played one decent team and lost, so to me they haven’t shown anything yet to even prove they are better. Beat Penn State and then we can all start that conversation again. Lose to Penn State and it pretty much proves that our AP ranking is a fake ID.

Either way the point is moot because now we’re depending on Wisconsin to lose more games than us and that ain’t happening. Personally I judge season success by being in the hunt for conference (division) championships just like my favorite MLB team making the playoffs. After that it doesn’t matter to me what dumb bowl game they go to because there are so many that it’s totally diluted now. If there were 10-12 bowl games it might mean something, but going 7-5 and a rinse/repeat of the Outback Bowl for the 37th time doesn’t trip my trigger.

Would it be reasonable to call the Outback the "Just Good Enough" Bowl?

If so it's fitting that we've been to it six times. That seems to be our level. Also, we're 3-3 in our trips to Tampa.

An equally telling stat is that we've been to the more prestigious Capitol One Bowl just once. And that we've lost to Northwestern in four of the six years we've played in the Outback, probably preventing us from playing in Mickey's World.

Its friday morning and I realize that the sting of last week has faded. It should have faded long ago. Looking forward to football season all year long (the longest offseason in sports) only to arrive and be negative....time to reevaluate. Cant control Iowa football, But I can control if I watch and I can control my expectations.

Nice guarantee there. You are the worst poster on HN.
