So what genius on our staff.....

Two future NFL QB's? Who is the 2nd one? That's what happens when you never let your backups take snaps,....who was it a few years ago that took 100% of the snaps fro the year...that was a joke!

Wasn't he playing behind 2 future NFL qb's?

Tough to unseat talent like that.

This.

Anyone now complaining that we had him and let him go is probably not that astute of a football person. He had future NFL QBs in front of him at both places. And he has a good start to this season. Whoopee.

He wasn't as good as what we had when he was at Iowa so why were they idiots because he didn't get on the field or higher on the depth chart? You can't say he didn't play before now at Texas Tech because he had a future NFL QB in front of him because that is why he was buried at Iowa, too.

Just a poorly thought out comment, I'm afraid.

Rudock and CJ. Thank God Greg is gone tho.

Oh, my bad, didn't know you had edited the post.

Are you referring to Vandenberg? In 2012? before shimonek was on campus? If only he had been a year earlier.

How is it that some posters like @Playmaker seem to get dumber each and every year?

He was a 3* QB with his only other offer from Lamar coming out of HS. You would have completely destroyed the staff for incompetence if a True Fr. came in and was given snap and he only had an offer from Lamar. You would have cried about how terrible Iowa's recruiting was, and that we can't even get a QB that another team wanted.

Now 5 years later you are complain that a kid at Texas Tech who is a system QB is putting up numbers in the Texas Tech System? Oh nevermind we are talking about @Playmaker here, I should know better he is gonna troll stupid all day long.

For crying outloud can't we just be happy for the kid? While he was at Iowa he was behind two other better QBs and wasn't going to see the field. He decided to go to a pass happy offense that airs it out and is doing well. Good for him. We just graduated a kid on to the NFL and have a true soph taking over for him now that looks pretty darn good in his own right. What's there to be down about here?

I'll take Stanley and CJB over Shimonek anyday. Stanley is going to be playing in the NFL someday.

Buried Nic Shimonek on our bench, and wasn't wise enough to see what he had?

What did he have at iowa? At TT he is throwing 50 times a game out of a shotgun-only spread formation. How does that translate at Iowa? Can he manage a game, audible, run a pro-style offense? Was he better than CJ and rudock, who are both on active NFL rosters?

The dude can definitely sling the ball as a 5th year senior. No denying that.

Its normal for a TTU qb to put of huge numbers - - its a system thing. Being successful at Iowa requires a slightly different skill set. One has to get the team into the right play at the LOS, take snap under center, execute play action passes too. Play action pases require you to turn away from the LOS, turn around, then look and acquire your target...not easy.
