So what are the chance ISU does anything with their season after Superbowl win?

Will it play the way it usually plays out that Iowa and ISU will go in different directions after this game.

I think they will probably both end up with mediocre records.

did you watch yesterdays game? I think it's pretty clear that both teams are heading in very opposite directions.

If this is ISU's superbowl then Iowa needs to make it their superbowl too, because if we don't, were not doing what it takes to win. Every week should be the superbowl in cfb. you only have 11 weeks.

So bored of the superbowl thing. Time to move on.

I ask this because ISU usually blows its load on the very rare occasion they beat Iowa. Then they proceed to fall apart throughout the year.

you ask this question because saying it's "ISU's superbowl" makes you feel a little bit better about getting beat. that's it.

If Steele Jantz is the player who we saw yesterday for the remainder of the year, ISU is going to have a very good season and will likely compete with nearly everyone on the remainder of the schedule.

I think at the end of the year this game will NOT be ISU's signature win on the year. The clones are going to get one (or possibly more) of the ranked conference teams on their schedule.

I predicted 5 and 7 for the Cyclones. May have to bump that to 6 and 6. They have been at home and now go on the road. This is where they struggle traditionally. I can't wait to get them back in Iowa City next year. Cy had his day for this decade.

Do you feel better about the loss now that you started this thread?

You act like Iowa is the best team ISU plays this year.

ISU will probably have a medicore record, but it has nothing to do with "blowing their load" against Iowa and everything to do with having an extremely difficult schedule, as Iowa won't be one of the top 5 or 6 teams we play.

When ISU has beaten Iowa 8 times since 1998. In 6 of those seasons ISU has finished with a better or same record than Iowa. ISU tends to beat Iowa when the Hawks just aren't that good. 2002 is the only really good Hawk team has beaten.

I think ISU finishes the season at 3-9 with their other win coming at home against Kansas.

Their schedule is brutal.

I can easily see 6 wins for Iowa State right now. Kansas, Texas Tech, and K-State are all very winnable games if Jantz is healthy. I'm also not sold on Texas, Baylor, Mizzou, or A&M. Those happen to be ISU's first 4 Big 12 games, and two of them (Texas and A&M) are at home. I wouldn't be shocked if they took two of the four (My money would be on Texas and Mizzou).

I can honestly see them getting to 7-8 wins before a bowl game if Jantz is healthy.

Yeah, forget the superbowl thing. If we keep thinking that we'll keep getting beat. They are another team that can beat us just like anyone else. They will win some games this year, we'll win some games this year. It will be tough seasons for both of us...

We'll see. The schedule is brutal and we don't have any cupcakes the rest of the way so all victories will be earned. I'm just hopeful for six wins to get to a bowl and anything on top of that is pure gravy

ISU flat out won yesterday. If both teams remain healthy both will improve. This is not Dan McCarty' or Gene Chezik's ISU teams any more than this is Bob Commings or Hayden Fry' s Iowa teams. History is irrelevant ad a predictor.

ISU is strong right now where Iowa is weakest. But as yesterday showed they are pretty evenly matchwd right now.

I think both teams are mid/ low tier bowl teams at seasons end if they stay healthy. I also think both teams (if healthy) will improve. Iowa is likely deeper and can maintain a bit better with injuries.

I think they pull out an upset or 2 but anything above 5 wins would be a shock. I think the rest of the way the only game they will be favored in is at home against Kansas.

I tend to think so too. We are probably down compared to what we are used to and I think ISU will probably have a little better team than what they are used to. We will improve, we will win games, but they will all be tough to come by.

You say this because it in some small way validates your very existence to know that your schools football team squeaked out a victory, at home, in triple overtime, against big brother. Congratulations on a successful season!

Don't be bitter.
