So stoked right now!

Got a great road win against a determined, athletic team!

Now, halfway thru, all of the tough road games are in the rearview save for MSU. If we can take care of home court and then dispatch the middling teams like we have all year so far this year, we've still got a great chance to get a share of the league!

Go Hawks!

Illinois may not have a great record, but looks to me like they have a lot of talent, and we got their best shot tonight. Comes with the territory being a ranked team though, I guess. Just glad to escape that hornet's nest with a win.... Whew.

Don't give IL too much credit guys. They are the worst in the league. Shaky win but we are starting to own them over the past few times we played them. Serves them right when they brought their students to Carver when we were bad.

Massively important week this week for Iowa's potential seed. Go 2-0 this week and move back into the top 10, given how many top 25 teams have had bad losses recently.

The "let's go Hawks" chants were neat at the end of the game.

It is nice to finally end the losing streak there.

Theyve hit a tough stretch, no doubt, but we ALWAYS have trouble against teams with athletic guards that can penetrate. I thought we were dead in the water when they went up by 5. But we showed a toughness we havent shown in a ling time and thats why i'm stoked!

While I am happy with the win too, have to disagree with the bolded comment. Iowa's got some tough road games, not just MSU. Minnesota and Penn St both have good guards who can score. Hollins could be back in a week. Iowa will have their hands full there. Indiana will be tough on the road too. I'd take a 2-2 split happily.

Every team in this league is dangerous. jNW is in 4th place. ????

Road game that worries me the most? Penn State.

Typicaly i would too...but if we want to grab a top 4 seed in the ncaa tourney and/or have a shot at the B1G title, we have to sweep or go 3-1 at worst. We're a darn good team...just have to believe it!

It can be really frustrating watching this team play. When we play like we did in the first 10 minutes we can play with anybody in the country. We seem to go into long stretches where we stand around on offense and kind of let the game play out. I'm really happy with a road win against a tough team. It was especially nice to see the mental toughness that the Hawks showed at the end of the game. This game could be a turning point to the season. Tough road win in the Big 10 is a real positive. Looking forward to this weeks games. Time for the Big 10 to once again experience what Hawkeye toughness is all about.

Great to get monkey off back. give Gabe some love for his great game. That offensive rebound he snared late was Huge. Woody never gets close to that ball. Nice job coach having him in game then.

I believe it too. IMO a 4 seed is a realistic goal for Iowa, I think 23-8 (12-6) gets it if one of those wins is over Michigan next weekend. Iowa needs that sig win. If Iowa takes care of Carver business (including Michigan) and splits those road games, thats 24-7 (13-5) and they're in 3 seed territory. But that is getting way ahead of things.

Woody hasn't been the one in the game late theses days instead of Gabe. It has been McCabe and there is no chance in Helsinki he gets that ball. Instead he would've fallen into Bertrand and fouled him. I hope the light came on with Fran that Gabe needs more minutes late and McCabe should see spot duty depending on how athletic the other team is.

The run didn't surprise me. When White got his 2nd dumb foul I turned to wife and said "Uh oh." I knew he was done for the half and unavailable to go in and help calm things when the run came.

If Iowa beats Michigan, and assuming it doesn't slip up against OSU on Tuesday, I personally look for Iowa to finish 7-2, and end up 24-7 (13-5). A loss @MSU and I figure a split @IND/MN. Huge week coming up. Gotta protect home court.

If Iowa can go 24-7... And tack a BTT title on to that and finish 27-7... 2 seed maybe?

The selection committee seems to love conference tournament titles. I've seen bubble teams become 5 seeds in one weekend (Syracuse back in 2005 or something).

But yeah, a ton of basketball left.
