so our top rusher and top reciever

It is really hard to discuss Iowa football right now without discussing Ferentz. Does he get a free pass? He is paid as if he is one of the top college football coaches in the country. His performance the past few years is anything but. I guess he should be thankful that most Iowa fans have such low expectations. He would no longer have a job at most of the "football" schools in the country.

If you feel that way, then I say we should be having an argument over Bary Garta's contracting skillz.

And I don't think many people on here are giving KF a "free pass". Regardless of what the haterade drinkers may think of the Kool-aiders, nobody is giving anyone a "free pass".

Yep, I'm all for a good honest discussion, and I'm the first to admit I'm not thrilled with everything that's going on with the football team right now. My point is that there are a few of you who seem to only be happy when there is something to complain about, and you are not constructive in your criticism, rather you try to have a competition to see who can be the most humorous in your bashing of our coach. I would guess those particular people would either disappear from the message boards if we were having a really successful season, or would find the one or two things to complain about anyway. It just doesn't seem that there would ever be a time that you would be satisfied....

This is the type of post I was talking about. Very interesting and informative
Fair point, but this is a message board, and sometimes people are going to vent their frustrations. I also post positive things when I see them. For example, I love the Hammer, and think JR has a great future at QB.
The facts are the last 3 seasons we are:
7-5
7-5
4-8
And people are hoping we will get to 6 wins this year.

We have lost multiple games due to poor coaching decisions at crucial moments. MSU was a tough blow because many people (including me) thought we should beat that team and worry about who we can beat if we can't beat them at home. It's frustrating; we have come to expect more from Iowa football over the years, right or wrong.

I would love nothing more then for KF to prove all of us wrong and win 8 to 9 games this year and bring the team back towards the top of the Big 10. I just don't see it happening.

I apologize for not having more insightful or meaningful insights on this message board. Sometimes it's nice to vent with people who feel the same way you do.

For the record, some are hoping for 6 wins. Some have predicted more. Even after the minny game, many updated to include more wins than 6.

As for the MSU game, I was disappointed with the outcome too. I was thinking both defenses would be stout; however, I thought our offense would come out a lot better. It didn't happen. After that game, I think a lot of people went all bipolar (including Johnny Website), compared to just the week before. I still have optimism for the the second half of the season.

I'll admit to being bipolar after the game. With that said, I have stuck with 6-6 all year.....well other than the overreaction to the MO. St. game. With that said, even though it very well could end in 6-6 , it's still frustrating. I guess I wanted to be wrong.

DJL, I predicted 7-5, which is very doubtful after the MSU loss. I never dreamed our OL would get dominated as they did. I find myself just hoping we put up a good fight at OSU. We all like to win. KF will still be our coach next year. But I have said on here before I think this is the year that will decide his future at Iowa. If the things he has done to remake this program dont show they are working reguardless of this years record. His exit is Iminite

Damn well said.

This is gonna be a long 2 weeks around here. With nothing but the MSU game to chew on; and hopefully a solid showing in the shoe. I may have to take a two week timeout from HN. ;-)

What do you think the week after getting blown out by OSU would be like? What would this place be like if we followed up a blow out loss with 2 home losses in a row, that were not close contests?
I'm not predicting any of that will happen, mind you. Just a look into a possible future.

Gary Barta doesn't coach the football team and I could give a rat's a** about him. Yes, he gave Ferentz too many years. That move looks like a mistake now. Barta showed a lot of confidence in Ferentz's abilities to lead the program and FERENTZ HAS LET HIM DOWN.

In my opinion, it's both: Ferentz hasn't produced expected results inherent in the type of contract he signed and Barta/Iowa effed up with the buyout portion of the contract. The contract term and money isn't the issue, it's the buyout that left Iowa with absolutely no options.

There's certain spots where you can overcome injuries. WR is not one of them for the hawks. It's already a weakness, let alone when we lose our top guy.

This isn't an excuse, it's just the truth.
