So is Dev's foot better then?

It is amazing what a little early confidence can do for a basketball player. Great game from him today. Let the run begin.

My concern the rest of the way is if he misses his 1st couple shots in a game will he just check out? His last 5 games and especially his defensive effort against MN and Wisky make him impossible to depend on. We just need him to be decent to make a run

Okay I used to have problem with ankles and it looks to me he still has that pull up hop when he slows down. I noticed it a lot during the game. He may be better but it looks like hes not 100%.

Did anyone gasp after Dev hit the first slam and came down awkwardly? It does look like it was a combination of injury in the beginning and the confidence...

It looks like that ...

DEV is BACK

and

IOWA is BACK

and did anyone notice JO is really doing well and back too.

Yep. I thought he was going to fall and break his hip.

I thought devyn looked a lot healthier in the last game...his timing just seemed to be off. Now it looks like he got his timing back. Hopefully he can keep it going when we play teams with a pulse.

He still isn't there physically. You saw that on his first dunk landing. He was limping. He landed awkwardly because he doesn't have the normal take off and he was not used to having to work that hard to dunk it.

So you don't think Northwestern doesn't have a pulse?

They have beaten Minny and Purdue at home and Illy and Baylor on the road (IU at #1 couldn't do that). They also beat Penn State on the road and TCU who just beat Kansas.

You sir have not a pulse, Northwestern does.

You are absolutely right about the "pull up hop." Saw it at least 3-4 times.

He looks closer though. I just remember that feeling and its like a insecure slow down of an ankle that is not fully loose. However theres no limp any other time so he should be close.

If you don't think northwestern has a pulse that means we only have 3 or 4 more games against teams with a pulse.

When I say teams with a pulse I am talking about teams with a shot at the ncaa tourney. Pulse equals chance and nw has none. And our pulse is fading quickly. The statement makes sense if you look at college bball like I do. The life is the ncaa tourney. When you can't make it in you have no pulse. Obviously they could win the b10 tourney but I don't see that happening. And short of winning out they are hard pressed to make it. Just like every yr previous they won't be in the tourney.

Devyn needs to do it when teams are keying on him...good teams. I believe he can but 21 against nw is much different than 21 and a win against a tourney bound team like minny or indiana. And yes nw has upset some teams but name a top team this yr that hasn't been upset. There aren't teams like unc and kentucky of last yr that are heads and tails above everyone else.

Dude scored 8 against Penn State. Regardless of what you might think of Northwestern, this was a big step forward for Marble.

Most every team has been upset, yes. But, by your own definition of having a pulse, Northwestern is not on the same level as Wisconsin, Miami, Illinois, Georgetown, Pitt, etc. You don't see that many bad team upsetting the good ones at this point. You see a lot of the good teams getting beat by solid quality opponents.

In most conferences, Northwestern would be winning a lot more games and probably be a good bet to get in the tourney. But the Big Ten is loaded this year.

I get all that but its pretty clear that Marble wasn't struggling because of the overwhelming competition. The fact that he looked good was a very good sign regardless of who we were playing.

I don't disagree...but I want to see some consistency. For iowa to get to the ncaa tourney they need the marble from the beginning of the season not the games leading up to this. And if he gets back there he will be keyed on by defenses and open things up for other players.

I am also worried about how white has been doing. It is confusing that his play would trail off like it has. But that might be because teams have keyed on him since marble has been struggling. So marble getting back to his old self against good teams could help him too.
