So, How Many Points Is KOK Worth?

I was just wondering how many extra points the KOK rehire will bring to the offense. That's it.

I'll just hang up and listen.

Not saying this will be just from KOK but in 2015 we avgd almost a TD more than 2016 mainly because of mobile CJB, two big TE targets, and MVBerg and T Smith which led to an above avg passing game for the hawks. 2016 sucked once Vandy and Kittle were injured.

I say more points if Vandy is pre-injury Vandy and if the get two TEs rolling and some deep threats. If hawks avg 30+ over season and about 24-27 in Big then they will be very good.

Tell me first if Vandeberg is healthy.....he is an all Big-Ten quality receiver and made a huge difference until he was injured. If you don't believe it, watch the 2016 Iowa-Iowa State game

I will say 10 points per game, people keep pointing the finger at the receivers, or an injured CJ. I still say it was the offensive scheme and coaching, these receivers were not any worse than any other Iowa receiver corps. Oh, and hopefully a full season of Wadley unleashed.

Ferentz said something in his press conference about Wadley not being quite up to 100% yet. Does anyone know if he had post-season surgery? Or was he dealing with nagging injuries throughout 2016 that are just healing up? The thought that Wadley may not have been at 100% for the 2016 season is kind of scary (for the rest of the B1G).

I'm sure we will be in four wide sets at least 50% of the time with KOK's experience in the NFL. Now, we will be using TE's since they have proven they can catch the ball...so we have that going for us. At least we know our WR's hands are in the "never been used" category, so they should look all bright and shiny.

It hard not to reason that we will be more prolific on offense. You have what could be the best OL in the B10, and with improvements in pass protection that should come with another year of experience...that bodes well for scoring points. It's up to the QB though as always. It's clear, the coaches have seen something special in Stanley, so let's hope they are right. He's going to get a ton of opportunities because we will see 8 man fronts all day long until he throws them out of it.

Here's the good thing about KOK coming back. If you remember, when teams loaded up to stop our running game, he would throw the ball 5-6 times in a row...forcing them to change what they were doing. Greg Davis never did that unless we were behind by three touchdowns. I remember a home game against Penn State, where Stanzi opened the game with 7-8 straight passes forcing PS to change their defense. We have to be able to do that, so I hope our new OL coach is working on pass pro this spring.
