I'll be first to say I wish we got after it like this the past few years but I think the guys are recruiting harder than I've seen in years. Keep it going and get more speed and leaders. Go Hawks. First time I've felt a twinge of positive for Iowa football since we pummeled northwestern. The look on Fitzs face was just awesome.

This recruiting class is coming along great! Already a top 25 recruiting class and it's only June. The efforts of the staff will continue to pay off and this class will continue to climb the rankings.

I think the bold is why we've got a top 25 class right now. Recruiting really isn't my thing, but I was looking at the Rivals site earlier...if every school in the country had 16 commits as we do, according to Rivals, we'd be somewhere in the low 70's (based on average star rating). It looks like the fact that we're grabbing so many commits (who aren't necessarily highly ranked at this time) is elevating our national standing. FWIW...

That will fall to the 50's by signing day with our commits' ratings. The only reason we are even sniffing the Top 25 is because we have more commits than most teams right now because we willingly take 2-stars off the street. We will be bottom half Big Ten recruiting rankings again. Not trolling just stating the truth. Wait and see.

Only one 2-star according to 247, but your right in that it won't finish there.

Here's a possibility that could play out............Iowa fills 80% or more of their available scholarships (mid 20's) for this class before the season kicks off. Iowa then has a strong season on the field and begins to attract the interest of some highly rated prospects that are more talented than our current verbals at that same position.

I know how some might handle this in the SEC but I don't see that happening under Ferentz. I guess nice problem to have but wouldn't it be ironic if we fill the barn too quickly.

I'm still impatiently waiting on stud AJ Epenesa.. I know it won't be for awhile, but if by the grace of GOD he committed to us, that's be HUGE.

I think we already filled our allotment of line scholarships so we would have to pass on him if he tried to commit now.

Eppy Espenesa is all about Iowa and if he had it his way AJ would definitely be a Hawkeye. It's AJ's decision though obviously. I think AJ Espenesa has grown up a Hawk fan, but I just hope the lure of the Notre Dame type schools doesn't get to him and he goes to one of them. He's either going to be a Hawkeye or he's going to go to one of the top tier schools like Notre Dame or Alabama. I don't think he would go to like Missouri or Oklahoma.

His commitment would be a HUGE bump to recruiting for 2017. Even for this year, as it would show a rise in the program. #momentum

Im happy with the recruiting but as stated above, we can now be a little more patient and go for some higher rated recruits. One way to free up some more schollies is to pull the one from the punter who will not be on the team this year. Or pull the one from the backup long snapper.

They have probably already offered to higher rated players, they just haven't chosen to commit yet. As for anyone on scholarship this year, pulling their scholarship wouldn't have any effect on recruits for 2016.

You are either Catholic or the only non-Catholic that thinks ND is a better program than Oklahoma:) Maybe that is a slight exaggeration but ND has not done anything in the past five years or so that Oklahoma hasn't done. Maybe the exception is being in the national championship game in the last five years, as OU was last in that game after the 2008 season compared to 2012 for ND. But OU has many more prominent bowl appearances in the last 15 years.
