So do we win that game Saturday if McNamara doesn't play?

We were not going to win by running the ball down their throats (even though I think most of us thought that would happen) 88 yards and less than 3 yards per carry doesn't score you many points. So the big question is can we win with either of our backup QBs? Of course it's too early to tell, but I have to say that neither (IMHO) are Big Ten caliber QBS? I do think there would have been a good chance that we would have lost to Utah State with their 50+ new players at home. I guess this week will tell a lot. Iowa State is not a great team, maybe not even a mediocre one. If its a 10-6 dogfight????

I feel like we can have an okay offense with Labas but I don’t think he was available Saturday. Fortunately Cade was available. Hopefully he stays healthy. If he doesn’t I hope Labas is ready to go. Labas has a decent amount of mobility to add some wrinkles that a defense has to worry about. With the way he started the bowl game I was wondering why the coaches didn’t give him playing time during the season.

There is a chance we could have lost.....actually it would have been interesting had we not got the big kick off return to start the game.

We will learn a lot more this Saturday. Iowa State is very, very good on defense.

We have a chance if Cade plays. If not, we lose

McNamara is the best QB at Iowa since CJ Beathard
Pehaps but not a very impressive bar!HL He is already (and will be all year) the most banged up QB since CJ.

All comes down to if the “company line” (pun intended) of the last 5 years actually has ANY merit.

Iowa is as the OL is.

While I don't wholeheartedly disagree, I think it would have been interesting had Johnson, Ragaini, and Lachey each not fail to catch a ball that touched both hands in the endzone.
21-3 at the half.
Who knows what that does or doesn't change.
Coulda made the second half even more boring.
Or lit some confidence fires that even wretched playcalling/play design couldn't overcome.
