Sneak peak at next year

White out. Gabe out. An unfortunate preview of next year's team.

Hardly fair to judge based on the circumstances and competition but playing the best will help set the bar for next season and identify who next year's leaders / go-to guys will be. Hopefully guys will step up to meet the challenge rather than go thin-skinned and cower in the face of adversity. Not to mention how (if) this staff is able to prove their mettle the next few games.

Not looking forward to the drubbings over the next few games but am going to try to focus on this interesting subtext.

Against Wisconsin....oh boy. Anyone want to predict the score of the game?
Wisconsin 85
Iowa 35

I can see the Hawks coming out with their hair on fire, Uthoff / Jok / Mikey starting like 8-10 (4-5 from 3), Woody man-handling the boards and building an 8-10 point lead. Then Fran subs in Clemmons, Dickerson and Oglesclank and they not only lose the lead but the all the air in Carver.

While I think it it'll be surprisingly close - nothing like in Madison - Wisky's superior talent and execution will win going away 77-60.

Only problem is there's 4 guys not yet on campus and one RS on the bench. But I get what your saying.

I'll say Iowa wins 67-62. My prediction remains the same with or without Gabe and White. My head says this isn't possible but my gut says the Hawks don't lose 3 in a row and will be very energized after what happened last time.

Without White and Olaseni...Need Uthoff to absolutely go off. Gesell and Jok are they other keys, will have to hit alot more jumpers than they have

The only thing I really disagree with is the comment that this game could be Iowa's season. I've always had the Wisconsin games as 2 losses in my projections...pretty sure the same is true for most everyone else. If White doesn't play this game it gives Iowa a chance to get a feel for their rotations, etc. without White going into a winnable game at Michigan.

Very much agree. While hopeful for Michigan, I pretty much expect 'em to lose the next 3, regardless. The "season" will be if White AND Gabe are both back for Minny AND both at full-strength AND both able to contribute normally. The "season" rests on getting back on track against Minny, at Northwestern, and staying on course against Illannoy and at Penn State.

Assuming all else goes accordingly, those are the 4 key games that'll determine NCAA or NIT. Considering the circumstances, these next 3 are throw away and anything you get will be gravy.

And these next 3 games don't really impact our NCAA resume if White doesn't play...as long as we get those 6 out of 8 we're supposed to get. The NCAA Selection Committee takes injuries into consideration.
