SMU seems to be on the way back up and could be worth a look. Before the death penalty they were a power house football program. They are already doing a good job recruiting even being in the Conf USA and getting into the B12 I would think improve it. I doubt they would be a conference doormat.
I think the enrollment for the school is under 10,000. In the early 80's they had a powerful alumni base, but not so much anymore. They have a good coach and a little history. However, I still think they would be fighting for leftovers in recruiting. I wonder if they would get some of those recruits from Texas that go to ISU?
So like another Jack Trice?SMU has a stadium that holds 32,000 people. Not very impressive. They have been horrible since the mid 80s. They did have back to back decent years against bad teams. They may never be able to compete at the Big 12 level like they could have in the 80s (while they were cheating.) If I'm the Big 12, I set my sites a little higher.
