Slow off season forum

In prior years this forum has been far more active. Mostly with people screaming bloody murder about the state of the program. I'm guessing that 8-4 with Outback Bowl was enough to assuage the feelings. Fans are comfortably numb or caught up in basketball.

it's the latter for me. B-ball has all my attention. and now that HawkeyeGameFilm isn't doing the player breakdowns anymore, i don't really have any reason to check out the f-ball board.

Yeah, it'll pick up a little more once we get to signing day. Unless there's transfers or coaching changes the only topic is recruiting and there's only a few schollies left. There's also no big time recruits people are waiting to make a decision. After the 8 win season the "fire Ferentz" folks seem to have gone back into hibernation for now.

Basketball is the biggest reason though. Hawk fans are looking at each of these games like a football game now. They're all important and fans feel there's a chance to win every game on the schedule.

Yeah, I was going to start a thread about Cy Phillips profile in Juice magazine this week, he doesn't even mention his time warming the bench for the Hawkeye's. I was going to try to get some angle like maybe this means he doesn't like Kirk or is upset about the gameday atmosphere.

Oh well, you can read it here: Get to Know: Cy Phillips, 30 « Juice

It was a very good hawk fball season especially the end shutting down Mich and clobbering Nebby.

An outback bowl win would have really kept the buzz going for a couple more weeks after that game.

I still check the Fball forum for any news and I dont spend a lot of time on recruiting so signing day is always big.

But I was a Sr in high school and a couple of us drove up to see rick mount and purdue play Miller's fantastic hawk team in 1970, and now we have a team that can compete like that so Bball has most people's attention, the wrestlers are doing well as always as are the womens Bball team.

go hawks

I have a tougher time getting in to basketball. I'm trying though. I also take a lot of vacation when it's cold here. With respect to football, I'm very interested to see what development, if any, there will be in the offense. I don't think it's a huge secret I was thrilled to be rid of KoK. Not a big secret that I was giving the new regime three years either. Next year is year three by my count.

I've watched basketball 3 times (ISU, UM and MSU) each were painful losses. Basketball is madening...the refs are always making bad calls....etc.

When the hawks win 3 in a row in conference play, let me know. I'm out.

A good friend of mine gave me some good advice one day....All he said was "Gary, just drink through it"...and by God, it's worked out very nicely...
