Skyler Bell Pushes Back Commitment Date

That's cool. Would rather see him take his time and be sure, as opposed to making a commitment then waffling.

Agreed.

But why set these dates for yourself in the first place?

@RobHowe , do recruits announce these commitment dates to force the hands of dawdling programs and get them to offer? Or is it more about recruits trying to put a timeline on their process for their own sake (to wrap it up by a certain point, so to speak)? Do you have a sense from communicating with these recruits?

I think each case is different. And the recruiting dead period we've been in the last few months has shaken things up. Plus, that was extended through June this week. There are just a lot of unknowns right now.

Young man has to do what is best for him and make the right decision. He's wise to think it through and take his time.

It would be great to have him as a Hawkeye. Thing is...when we miss out on a top RB, it doesn't phase me. There will always be a guy who can excel in IOWA's system. The difference between 8 wins and 11 won't be a 4* vs a 3* RB.

Don't forget Saturday night Hee Haw.
Went on a Grand ol Opry tour last summer with our group that terrorized Nashville and stood in the studio where Hee Haw was shot.

Most interesting bit of memorabilia? Minnie Pearl's "price tag" hat, of course.

Most memorable episode i ever saw? Hank Williams Jr singing one of his dad's songs before his mountain accident that altered his facial features and looking a lot like his dad when he sang.

My dad used to watch Hee Haw every week and would laugh out-loud.

I never could understand that...

The Grand Ol Opry was a nice visit. I think Diamond Rio was there, "One More Day."

Ever seen Hank III?

Spitting image of his grandfather plus tattoos, and sounds eerily like him.

Full disclosure.

No Hee Haw (along with Lawrence Welk, my grandmother never missed an episode...) or Waltons, but during the lockdown, I have watched multiple episodes of the following:

Bonanza
Gunsmoke
Sanford and Son
The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
Three's Company
Barney Miller, and, yes, even one episode each of,
Laverne and Shirley and Welcome Back Kotter

Of course, that goes along with my usual staples:

Andy Griffith
Cheers
M*A*S*H
Everybody Loves Raymond
King of Queens, and
Two and a Half Men

All while throwing down some single-malt scotch.

I think Kirk and I should hang.

Never appreciated the versatile brilliance of Johnny Carson during his TV run.

I do now, and I have never heard any of the many people he helped make famous say a bad word about him.

Things have settled down at work after a historically hectic April but I still spend a lot of my time watching the windshield of my box truck or cargo van. Most of our contractors have hired back retired drivers or those who normally work strictly during holiday peak. I have helped interview and hire a couple drivers myself. It has kept me busy and my mind off the plight of this pandemic for the most part. I do appreciate that I am working and making more money than I otherwise would in addition to spending less because my youngest isn't playing any AAU right now.
