Single Game Tickets--HyVee Fuel Saver.....and leaving out Season Ticket Holders

So I did a little investigating into the single game ticket promotion with the HyVee Fuel Saver program. We are season ticket holders and every year, we purchase single game tickets, as soon as they are available, for several family members that want to come see a game. When I heard about the gas promotion, I look to see if we could take credit for the single game tickets that we had already purchased. They put a limit that the single game tickets had to be purchased after August 4th, which would pretty much kick out any season ticket holder that purchased single game tickets.

Granted, I understand that the ticket/marketing group have to be responding to the news that there are still many seats still left unsold. They are working to sell out Kinnick, and if they promotion helps with that, all the better.

I received a very quick and detailed response back from Mr. Klatt. He explained that they do always look to make sure that Season ticket holders are taken care. But, do to the fact that Season Ticket holders have the advantage of purchasing their single game tickets before the general public and some at reduced rates, the decision was made not to set the start date as August 4th.

Have any of you guys participated in this program? If you are a season ticket holder that purchase single game tickets early, what is your opinion on not being included. I do understand that it is only $50 in gas, but was surprised that there was nothing that they could do for those loyal ticket purchasers.

I am a season ticket holder. The gas card was introduced to spur single game sales. Why should a new promotion retroactively apply to sales that occurred before the announcement of the promotion?

Their release about the promotion lists the promotion specifics, and the dates are included.

Not trying to speak for SP here, but my take would be if I'm on the fence about purchasing extra single game tickets and am a season ticket holder, why wouldn't I wait to do so so I could get in on the promotion? I realize this is the first year they've done it; but if this is a precedent, then next year I think twice about ordering my tix early.
Just a thought.

We always get our tickets right away, so we can make sure that we can get enough for the games that we want to attend. So, we wouldn't want to wait to make those purchases.

ICHawk, I do understand that the promotion does have specific dates for purchase and that the promotion was put into place to sell out the stadium. I totally understand that.

Main reason for my post was just looking to see how other season ticket holders felt about not being included. Granted, in a normal season, coming off a great season, those single game tickets would be harder to come by. And yes, season ticket holders have first chance at those tickets.

SP, I understand why you get your tix early. My point was simply for those that are deciding between getting them early or holding off, this kind of practice may convince them to wait for a promotion.

As for myself, I'm a season ticket holder and don't normally buy extras. If I were to, I'd wait for a promotion, use a secondary market, or scalp. The latter two my end up being cheaper.

I agree Eda. If I was only buying for a few people, yeah, I would probably scalp. When my family comes to a game, we are looking to purchase 10+ tickets.....I don't want the hassle of scalping that many. Also agree, with a couple of games, scalping would probably result in a cheaper ticket.

You should also consider that season ticket holders are getting the best available single game seats available, while the promotion kicked in when the worst seats remained.
