SIAP - Tubby Smith to Arkansas?

Received a tweet earlier today and also in the ESPN rumors section that Tubby has been discussing the position with Arkansas and that a deal is being worked on. As I've said, this would not shock me. I don't care if Minny and Tubby want to talk about extensions, I firmly believe Tubby would like to get out of Minnesota and go back down south. I thought he would be in line for the Georgia Tech job, however maybe all the money they had to use on the buyout for Hewitt is hurting them.

Fayetteville is a stone's throw from Tulsa. Way better spot for Tubby than Atlanta. He will have the pick of a decent recruiting region and not have to worry about competition with any other SEC teams in his area.

ESPN makes it sound like Tubby to Arkansas is a done deal.

If it is true, it is good news for Fran. Not that Tubby is all that, but this kind of void is usually helpful in the short term for recruiting.

I think Minnesota fans would be happy to have someone take him off their hands. It hasn't gotten quite as bad yet, but the dynamic up here is starting to remind me of Alford's last year at Iowa. Big hire, tons of expectations, and a constant string of late-season collapses.
