SI.com 2011 Draft Article/Ranking - Clayborn

Weird. I always thought Clayborn was very explosive, had great acceleration, and was very physical at the point of contact. Apparently, that was just "hustle."

Right, because Clayborn didn't run down Nic Grigsby, he of the 4.4 40, from behind.

Probably got his information by reading the 2009 spring prospectus.

I think KF has been more than effusive of his praise of Clayborn. There is a reason NFL people really respect KF. He doesn't go around hyping everyone, and tells people his honest assessment. And if the player is a star KF says so. There is a reason Moeaki went in the 3rd round, and a large part of it was KF telling everyone who would listen how talented he was.

Exactly, other than maybe throwing Nesbitt to the ground right before halftime in the Orange Bowl, I can't think of a play by Clayborn that got me more fired up.

Just giving you a hard time on this one, but any PSU play's ring a bell?

Actually it's 50% hustle, 35% determination, and 5% magic.

The remaining 10% hasnt been identified yet.

I was going to go there too, I'd have to say that was his play that got me the most fired up. Lot's of yelling, high fiving, and throwing my son in the air going on after that one.

McShay has Clayborn as his number one defensive player:

1. DE Adrian Clayborn, Iowa
(6-foot-3, 282 pounds)

Clayborn is looking to build on the momentum from a breakout 2009 season, which included an MVP showing in the Orange Bowl win over Georgia Tech. Clayborn is a massive defensive end with an unusual combination of speed and athleticism for his size. He is mature and plays the game with fire.

I'd say that pretty much refutes what the SI author had to say. Here's the link for anyone with ESPN insider: Adrian Clayborn, Cameron Heyward among Todd McShay's top defensive players for 2011 NFL draft - ESPN.

My bad.

CBS has him #3 overall

I think that SI article is an anomaly from a misinformed writer.

Wow....North Carolina has quite the list of NFL prospects on the roster next season (at least according to this website). That list doesn't even include Robert Quinn (I assume because he isn't a senior next year) who McShay has as the #6 overall pick of the 2011 draft and #3 DE....

Marvin Austin - #1 DT
Bruce Carter - #1 OLB
Deunta Williams - #1 FS
Quan Sturdivant - #2 ILB
Kendric Burney - #3 CB

I had heard that UNC had a pretty solid defense, but this list is stacked. They should have a tough team, at least on D. From what I remember of them from a couple of games last year, the QB wasn't too impressive.

McShay and Mel talked about that on CFLive. I think McShay said that it is pretty much an all-star team on defense because everyone came back as a unit. Never seen them play, but sounds impressive.

Yeah, the offense was a little lacking at UNC. But, this is a Butch Davis defense, no doubt. That guy can put together some monsters.
