Should Wichita St. Be #1?

Assuming Wichita State finishes taking care of business tonight, should they be the #1 team in the country? Florida was shaky at home, to say the least, against Auburn. 'Cuse went down. WSU is undefeated.

Only thing I'd say is that Florida has a much more impressive overall resume with several Top 50/100 wins, and WSU doesn't have a lot. But, undefeated is undefeated. All things considered, I guess I'd still say UF #1 and WSU #2, but WSU deserves some first place votes IMO.

What say you?

I wouldn't even put them in the top 5...no way #1. Here are their best wins (Kenpom rank).

@ St. Louis (19)
Tennessee (24)

This concludes their list of top 50 wins. Iowa is 4-6 against the top 50 with all 6 losses coming to teams in the top 18 with the lone exception being Iowa State at #26.

Won't happen but Syracuse should remain #1.

Why does it make sense to have a team with more losses or a team that plays inferior competition on a night in night out basis ranked ahead of them??

One OT loss doesn't change the fact that in my opinion they are sti the best team in basketball.

I agree. Now if they follow up with a loss at Duke Saturday then I probably drop them to 2nd or 3rd with all of the close calls they've had...in addition to losing 2 in a row.

The best thing about college basketball is that it doesn't even matter, you don't even need to be ranked to win it all. If they do somehow get a 1 seed, oh baby. I want them to be the first #1 seed to lose, worse than Jim Rome wanted the Lions to go 0-16. This will be a sweet revenge for beating us in that sorry excuse for a gym down in Mexico last year. Another game that could have put us in the tourney

If we end up a 4 or 5 as projected I most definitely want them to be the 1 seed in our region.

I agree who cares about the AP or coaches Poll. It's like using batting average to evaluate hitters. I don't understand the ranking obsession in these two polls. They play a lot of games for a reason.

Florida is the best team I've seen this year. Some full-grown men on that squad.

Syracuse should drop a few spots just for wearing the uniforms they donned in tonight's loss.

Probably the worst uniforms in college ball. Haven't seen them on the road all year.....

That's a weird amount of disdain for a random team.

Syracuse really hasn't been THAT great of a team. I credit them for pulling out some games but they have pulled out a few games they should have lost and losing to BC is just horrible. They have a great defense and pretty ugly offense at times. Honestly, our records could be reversed with some luck.

No. Absolutely not. Their schedule is cake. The MO Valley is very average. The top 5 teams in the Big Ten or Big12 would have the same record as WSU with that schedule.

If Duke beats UNC and Cuse, then it will be Florida #1, Duke #2, and Cuse #3, assuming Florida wins their other game this week. Shockers #4, assuming they win this weekend (which they will).

By the way, Arizona is struggling at Utah right now. If they lose that one, they fall to #9 or so.
