Should Penn State accept bowl bid

That literally made me shoot snot out of my nose onto my monitor screen.

If I can't get it off (again, no pun intended) I'm sending you the bill to replace it.

Being forced to invite Pedo State to your bowl game ain't playing to win, Bri.

Sure, there will be some fallout for the bowl that invites them, probably from the morally arrogant and superior--you certainly know who THOSE folks are (wink wink)--and the smug media types who seem to think this is some huge conspiracy that EVERYone at PSU has known about since the beginning of time.

In the end, those of reason, those who are humble, etc., will understand that no human is infallible, and that making the PSU fans and players suffer is no solution.

Like it or not, PSU will continue to be a story. You can call them whatever you like, and can continue to grill JoePa, and blather on and on. Some folks understand the notion that those who scream loudest are often no better than the people at whom they scream.

Make no mistake: PSU getting a bowl bid will be a money-maker for advertisers, bowls, local economy, etc. Their fans and alums will travel, media will follow like the typical lemmings that they are, protesters will spring up ("Hey, is this Occupy ____ Bowl?"), and local bowl organizers and security/law enforcement will have a fun time trying to separate the lunatics on either side of the fray. He&&, the cleanup crew will log serious overtime with the mess the Occupy-ers leave behind.

Now THAT is a "win".

agreed bobby62, I think psu will have the trainwreck effect going for them. For or against, people will still want to look in on them. And fans will travel in support of the university and current team.

I do think to two win rule in the B1G still exists, but that will take some up sets to have it work out that way.

the guys on the Big Ten network were debating this last night. Many of them thought Iowa would get picked over Penn State and they had PSU going to Detriot (I think, whatever the worst two bowls are now).

You're still struggling at grasping the concept. Penn State will be highly sought after this year by bowl committees. There will be no forcing.

I think you might want to warm up to the concept that Ped State is now a punch line.

You can spin it however you like but the bottom line (no pun intended) is that "Penn State" is now word association partner with "child rape."

JD said last night on the radio show that no one would take PSU which made Iowa's bowl chances (pecking order) better.

I just saw this in the 'net - this guy probably didn't listen to the show - JD says he is always right or almost always on his bowl predictions:

Rose Bowl would welcome Penn State Nittany Lions if it earns bid - ESPN

Of course they should accept a bowl bid.

I'm not a big fan of collectively punishing 100+ hard-working players that did absolutely nothing wrong.

Mixed feelings. Penn St the University, NO. But a bowl game is really a reward for the players and their efforts. So it would seem as if they're getting cheated out of something.

On the other hand, imagine the reception Penn St would get outside of Happy Valley (Columbus and Madison will be interesting). It could get ugly and be a PR nightmare for whatever bowl invited them.

Tough call. I do like the idea of the Big Ten requiring them to give up the proceeds and donate it to an appropriate charity.
