Shall we rant or shall we cheer ? (ISU)

This game about killed me.
Frustrated beyond belief that our QB can overthrow multiple receivers on deep routes by 7-8 feet! Zero touch on his long balls, should be correctable, but KOK has his work cut out for him.
That said, call me impressed that our QB (with only one game under his belt) hung in there on the road and made the throws that count right when we needed them the most... + ZERO picks! That tells me he's a WINNER!
PS - God Bless Akrum Wadley!!

I was thinking the same thing, until I realized that it's his 2nd game and he's only going to get better, and that we have receivers open downfield a decent number of times (4 or 5 times this game, at least) and that our offense is putting everything on the table and finding different, sometimes creative ways to get guys open, short or deep, side or middle of the field. Is that on Brian/Ken/Tim?

Guys need to get off the "he missed the long balls", we are doomed rhetoric. Geez, the guy threw 5 TDs and his ball placement on screens, crossing routes, etc is phenomenal. Why do you think these guys get YAC like they do...they are getting the ball in stride and right on the money. The long ball will come...it's his second game. If you had told me before the season we were going to be 2-0 and Stanley had 8 TD passes and averaging 225 yards a game...i'd be nominating him for the Heisman at this point. It's his second game starting...holy freaking crap.

I'm going out on a limb here...I think he's really freaking good...and his best games are ahead of him. Think about that.
Lastly, the kid took us 89 yards for a game tying score. He completed two perfectly thrown balls in the OT to win the game, and people are talking about the 4-5 long ones he over threw. Now, why do you think all the underneath stuff was working? Because they were concerned about getting beat deep. Even the misses served their purpose.

His name is Nathan Stanley.

I'm with you. I see Stanley blowing up some Iowa passing records before he is done. QB spot is locked down and looking great for the next three years.

People are missing 3 key points on the overthrows

1) we actually threw 4-5 Deep shots
2) the receivers had separation and were open
3) Stanley had time even against blitzing

Keep throwing them....
Oh yea, then there's THIS....we scored 44 pts! :)
Its possible that the deep balls pay off regardless of whether they were completed or not.
