Seton Hall

I hope they pull off as this will be my first chance to record the game and watch how the younger guys look.

A really, really, loud and ruckus crowd would sure help like crazy. YOU HEAR ME OUT THERE!!!! LOUD and Ruckus!!!!!!!

Is the game even a sell out? I'm seeing a lot of cheap tickets available on Stubhub. If the students show up it they might generate some noise. But a non conference game where the opponent isn't even ranked I doubt its going to be a "loud and ruckus crowd".

I hope I'm wrong!

I am heading to the Wisconsin @ Creighton game tonight - top 25 match-up too sweet to pass up in my back yard. B1G already down 0-1 in the Gavitt Tipoff after last nights Purdue loss to Nova - If Iowa beats SH on Thursday - it will be an upset, a mild one, but an upset.

Iowa will be favored. It's a home game. Sagarin has Iowa at 53, Seton Hall at 39, KenPom Iowa at 54 and Seton Hall at 39. With home court, that'll make Iowa a favorite. The Efficiency Margin difference between Iowa and SH would put them at about a 1 point favorite with no homecourt advantage, which is generally about 4 points.

It should be the rule from now on in Iowa athletics to not set our expectations too high. Fool me once shame on Iowa athletics, fool me thirty times, shame on me.

No kidding, Lol. I was very disappointed with the collapse last season as it was the season I pointed too since Woody and Gesell committed to Iowa. Then you through Uthoff in the mix and wow it looked like all the star were aligning. In the end both Woody and Gesell were average, if not below average players in the B1G. No one can say they weren't given plenty of playing time to develope as Woody probably had more accumulated starts by his senior year than any other player in the league.

So in that regard I can understand why some are actually more optimistic with the group we have now. It appears we have a much more offensively diversified group of players. It will remain to be seen how their defense shapes up and what kind of chemistry will be on the team.

It wouldn't hurt my feeling one bit if they are right. ;)

Excited for this game against a really good team. They should be favored as they are the better team on paper with more experience. It will be a good litmus test to figure out where this young club is at.

Iowa comes in at about a 1-2 point favorite between KenPom, Sagarin, and Vegas. Should be a good early season game.

Should be a close game. Will be interesting to see how the young guys react to being in their first competitive game.

Everyone but Daily, Moss, and Kreiner is my guess.

I agree with this and wouldn't be surprised if Jones didn't play or played very little. He had some defensive lapses in the exhibition game that were head scratchers, so it might be better to ease him back in Sunday. Foul trouble could be a factor as well.

I'd like to see Fran ride the starters a little bit more with Williams, Cook, and Baer in the 25-30 minute range, Uhl & Wagner in the 20 minute range, Pemsl for about 15, and Jordan, Jones, and Brady in the 10-15 minute range.

Edit: I doubt that will happen though. And I'd also like to see Moss get a chance tonight.

The Seton Hall coach was in the hot seat before last years run. I don't think they had been in the NCAA tournament since 2006. They lost there star point guard to the NBA so it will be interesting to see how they do this year. They have four starters back. Iowa is favored, so there must not be a lot of people sold on Seton Hall.

Was that right after Michigan called a time out to try to freeze the kicker? Lol,

I haven't seen any of the games yet but as much as I want Iowa to win I just don't think things are in their favor even though they are home. Experience trumps youth unless you are loaded with four and five star recruits and even then it's going to be tough.

Sounds like Brady had a good game. I hope he has another one against Seton Hall. If he does this game could could be a much closer game.

Seton Hall 93. Iowa 77

91-83, well I was pretty close on the score and in the end the experience was the difference as there were many turnovers caused by our younger players.
