Seriously Cody Larson better be able to play Center

The only guy we have on the roster that is really a C is Brommer. We'll have to use a lot of undersized or underweight guys to fill that position.

But offensively, Jarryd is one of the least instinctive, least skilled basketball players I've ever seen starting for Iowa. We really would benefit from having someone down low who could be counted on to make more of his scoring opportunities.

Based on the number of shots and the percentages, it looks like the team would benefit from more touches for Jarryd.

Part of the reason is his size. At 6'7" it is difficult to lob the ball in to him over taller defenders. Another reason is that we tend to get our bigs involved primarily through the screen-and-roll... which can be effective, but hinges a lot on spacing and the awareness of the defense. It creates fewer inside opportunities than just dumping it into the post does, though when a big does get the ball on a roll to the hoop, it tends to be a higher-percentage shot than a normal post feed.

Another reason for the lower number of shot attempts is simply Iowa's pace. Lick's philosophy of retreating to the other team's bucket in an effort to remove the transition game means longer possessions for the opponent because they always have to score from their half-court set unless they steal the ball from us. That and Lick's patience on the offensive end mean fewer possessions per game than other teams in the conference, and fewer shot attempts for all of our players as a result.

Redshirting him a year will allow Lickliter to coach him up another level...we won't even know this kid next year.

actually archie on offense could present some interesting offense. he may not be able to shoot, but if he is able to catch the ball, he could score around the basket coming off of those screens. plus i imagine some back door plays for oops could be an option like we did for looby.
