See people.....it actually works!!!

Iowa seems to always be "a few points away" from having a better season... But as we see every year, those are the games we lose that should've been W's if not for going into a shell with a lead, mis-managing personnel, special teams blunders, clock management issues, etc. When is Iowa going to WIN some of these games instead of saying "well, we almost won, but that's football"?

The 11-2 2002 team won at Miami (OH) 29-24, won at Penn St in overtime 42-35 and beat Purdue at home 31-28. So spread 18 points out and we are a 5 loss team.

Take 9 points from the 11-2 2004 team and they are a 5 loss team. They were 3-0 in games decided by a field goal or less. They won at Penn St 6-4, beat Purdue at home 23-21 and won at Minnesota 29-27.

The 11-2 2009 team beat UNI at home 16-14, beat Arkansas State 24-21 and won at Michigan St 15-13 (and lost at tOSU 27-24 in OT). Looks like 9 points makes them a 5 loss team.

This year if we get 11 more points in three games (Iowa St, Wisconsin and Nebraska) we end up with a record of 10-2.

Sometimes you get the close ones, sometimes you don't. While a lot of people make fun of Kirk for saying "That's football", it really is true that sometimes in all sports (not just football) that the margin between winning and losing is one or two plays. It can even be broken down more to one or two actions within those plays that make the difference. That's sports.

When you get off your a** and recruit, you have enough talent for EVERY game not to have to be a roll of the dice....and you do not have to have your A game 12 weeks in a row. Wouldn't it be nice to beat ISU once when you brought your C game??? See, I knew you would agree with me.

Gary Barta just got rid of two of the West Division coaches who beat us this season? Can he get Jerry Kill promoted or fired to pave the way to a B1G West Division championship next season?
