Season Over

I would like to thank Fran for an interesting first 3/4. I will not Thank him for the 1/4 season collapse. I will gladly eat crow if sometime gets turned around. I see us one and done badly on the Tournament or a two round NIT team

Well it isn't good right now, but Iowa needs to win 2 in the regular season and 1 in the tourney and I think we are a lock.

I agree. Its terrible. This is all on fran. Started with his response to the mccabe situation. Then being bullish with proving his point.
I have now moved to feeling bad for mccabe. Fran has essentially made everything worse for him by putting him in situations destined to fail.

This is a coaching blunder...this is a player blunder...coaches knew the rotation had to shorten...the players are SOFT. THe real issue now becomes we really have no automatic win the rest of the season.

2 wins in regular season makes us 10-8 that is a lock. We have Purdue and Illinois at Carver, we will be fine to make the NCAA but heading to the dance, this team is far from fine. Maybe 1 and done right now and that wouldn't be fun..

2 wins is regular season is a lock. Come on now, don't get carried away. We have Purdue and Illinois at Carver, we will be fine..

Win those games and Iowa is in.

However, lose either one of them, lose @MSU (nearly an absolute certainty) and drop the first game in the BTT, and I will be sweating a bit.

Not true about loss at MSU being a near absolute certainty. I was told on here we have a 40% chance. Th way I see it, we have a 40% chance of beating Purdue at home right now

Purdue nearly beat Michigan the other day.. Took a buzzer beater for UM to survive. ILL, unlike Iowa, won @Minnesota recently and pretty convincingly.. So I don't see PUR or ILL as automatic W's.. This team needs to get its head back on its shoulders right quick if it wants to dance.

agree. Where are all the people who said iowa is a an NCAA lock? Better turn it around fast or we will be looking at NIT again. Starts on defensive end and with effort. How can you play 25 guys and still look tired? Problem is we aren't any better than last year and lost our only good man to man defender in May. Our current squad doesn't seem as interested in playing defense.

This teams led by its coaches can react one of two ways after tonight.

1. they can pout, stick their tails between their legs and give up or;

2. they can get pizzed off and come out one game at a time with some fire.

Unfortunately my perception is the former will happen based on what I've witnessed since the Michigan game. Even the win at Penn State the team played an underwhelming game. I am not feeling confident that this particular group of guys has the mental toughness to win at home versus Purdue and Illinois at this point. Hope I'm wrong for their sake and the fans sake.

Flush it, prepare for B1G tourney and NCAA tourney. As long as they win 1 more game, they are a lock for the dance.

Let's think about that for a minute. Iowa is 19-9. If they win just one more game, that puts them at 20-11. If they happen to drop the first game in the BTT, 20-12. Do you think that's good enough? With just 2 wins over the Top 25, and our best OOC win over a team with an RPI of 48 (Xavier), and 8 OOC wins over 150+? Just thinking in terms of "resume", here, and we know how much the committee loves OOC schedule.

Iowa's saving grace may be that it doesn't currently have any losses outside of the Top 100, even with tonight's loss. But if Iowa somehow ends up 20-12 going into Selection Sunday, I'm going to be nervous.
