Season is over, put in Rudock

With a loss to Northwestern, we need to win two out of our next four just to make a bowl game, and I don't see that happening. No way we beat Michigan or Nebraska, and considering Ohio State gave up 49 against Indiana, I give the Hawks a 50/50 shot against them at best. Purdue will be tough, too.

TIME TO GIVE RUDOCK AND/OR SOKOL SOME TIME. Vandenburg has played every snap for Iowa this season. Are we going to start next year with a quarterback who has never taken a snap in a game??

Also, questions on a couple stats if anyone knows, not sure if the second stat even exists:

Iowa has to be close to leading the nation in:

1. Dropped passes. I know we're leading the Big 10 BY FAR.
2. Completed passes on third down that DO NOT go for a first down.

Also, I'm just going to add that I'm not a Vandenburg hater like some of you, and think he's looked a lot better today and I don't think Rudock or Sokol would do any better THIS YEAR, but does it really matter more that we finish 5-7 with Vandenburg instead of 4-8 with Rudock or Sokol.

Kirk says, "JVB gives us the best chance to win." That pill gets harder and harder to swallow by the week.

With the current shape of our O-line, I'd be worried about the Rudock or Sokol geting a career ending injury if we put them in.

No way that Drew Ott is ready now and hasn't been before. This latest score only thing keeping JVB in the game.

With James actually showing a slight pulse in the 4th quarter that guarantees he will be the starter the rest of the year.

Also, most of the struggles are NOT on JVB, but at some point you have to cut your losses.

Reasons the passing game has struggled this year (in no particular order)

* McNutt is gone.
* Inexperienced at WR; receivers not cutting routes short when their CB blitzes; miscommunications between receivers and QBs; receivers not running good routes or getting open
* DROPPED PASSES
* Poor throws by JVB
* JVB dumping it off way too soon/scared of getting sacked
* Poor play calling. Our receivers are much slower and less athletic than Davis had at Texas. They can't catch a 2 yard pass and juke their way to first downs. WE HAVE TO BE LEADING THE NATION IN COMPLETED PASSES ON THIRD DOWN THAT DON'T GO FOR A FIRST DOWN.
* Davis, who would only start on maybe half of Big 10 teams this year, is our top reciever.
* We're not utilizing our tight ends, probably the most talented group in the conference

Only 2 of those 8 are on JVB, but we return a lot next year and we need to start preparing.

Kirk would rather score 10 pts a game than let the fans or media think for one second they dictate anything.

It's the only thing he can really control.

The problem with this game is that JVB didn't really earn more playing time. We were given a drive with that pass interference call and some good runs, along with a questionable roughing the passer call, but JVB had little to do with Iowa getting closer. So now KF will have an excuse to keep playing him.

Honestly, what Iowa needs for the future is BLOW OUT losses to get reps for guys for next year. This is how I will cheer for the rest of this season.

You make a ton of sense: Kirk is obviously making his starting decisions based on spite. He reads the blogs and newspaper, figures out who everyone else wants to play, and picks the opposite guy.

he does seem like a guy who holds a grudge, FWIW.
