Scott Frost

Rumors on the other side of the river is that Frost was routinely late for practice and meetings. He had a gambling and drinking problem - routinely going to Iowa casinos and half the time just wasn't present and didn't hold any of his players accountable either. Trev Alberts was brought in to fire him. Without a doubt, and if I'm being honest, he did the best way possible. If he came right in and canned him, the fan base would have been split. Trev re-worked his deal to save money and then just waited and let Scott hang himself. From the rumors over here, they knew going into the season that the team was dog shit and everyone on the staff knew, Trev knew, Scott knew. Now you let him lose to Georgia Southern in your own crib and the boosters pocket book opens up quick.

I don't think I like Trev Alberts as a Hawkeye fan. He might be the first AD there that understands that Nebraska needs to win both lines of scrimmage to compete in the B1G.

I will disagree that Trev handled this the right way. If he had fired him last year no one would have been pissed as the fans and the boosters had seen 5 losing season, 4 under Frost. He spent the first 3 years blaming Riley and then he blamed bad luck and then Martinez. Anyone but himself.

Now, I get bringing him back to save 12 million in buyout. That was the only reason to do what Trev did. But, to bring him back and then can him before the buyout dropped was so dumb. Trev had all the leverage in the world last year. He negotiated a Barta contract and now that asshole is doing to drain another 15 mill from the coffers on the way out the door.

So, in retrospect all Trev did was set back the rebuilding process at Nebraska an entire year. Assuredly this will be a losing season as will next. Likely 7 year stretch without a bowl. Trev seems smart and grounded and he did a good job at UNO and I think he will be a good AD at Nebbie, but he screwed the pooch bringing this ass hat back for another year. So I say, Good Job, Trev!!!!!!!!!

Agree that if the strategy was to save money, it turned out to be a bad one. But as bad as Nebby is, did anyone expect Frost to go 1-2 against NW, North Dakota and Georgia Southern? The odds were good Frost would last past Oct 1, but he even screwed that up (or did he?)

Frost's legacy continues today....

Losing to OU at home by 35-7 at half.

Enjoy your $15mil.

I was thinking maybe Saban would perform another reclamation project, but if alcohol and gambling is that bad, I doubt that happens.

He killed the football and wrestling program. UNO could have been right there with the Dakota schools. Wrestling could’ve competed at the D1 level for sure. Lincoln said there will be NO other football at even the FCS level. Sent Alberts to do it.

By losing to Ga Southern, Frost got an extra $7.5 million.
Brilliant!
