Scott Drew, Scott Drew, Scott Drew...

If ever there is a coach that can turn around a program it is this man. Look at his Baylor resume and it speaks volumes as to why this should be the coach to go after. Baylor was in worse shape than Iowa is now when he took over; murder, defections, scholarship issues, and he has them as a national contender now. He has proven that he can recruit, as evidence by his past and future classes, can coach, and has a style that will put butts back in the seats at CHA. He has Midwest ties and I think would welcome the chance to get back in the area. Barta should do what the Cubs did with Andre Dawson, had him a blank check and say fill it in. It is time for Iowa to step it up and start acting like a BCS school in basketball.

If Barta turns to another mid major coach for Lick's replacement, than I think the next hire should be for an AD that is in tune with something other than fundraising.

Be careful what you wish for. There's a great deal of speculation things aren't conducted above board at Baylor. It's just a matter of time before the NCAA starts to get involved.

things are never above board at Baylor ... that is the environment ... so what of Drew? IDK

It's the old SWAC mentality of competition--it ain't cheating if you don't get caught.

I don't know anything about Scott Drew and he may be completely above-board, but the SWAC schools are notorious for (to say this politely) pushing the limits.

Do you realize how close the NCAA has been watching Baylor the last few seasons? They were banned from playing any non-conference games just a few years ago, they came as close to the death penalty as a school can come. The NCAA doesn't just stop observing the program once the punishment is over. If there were serious violations under Drew, they would have come out by now.

I think Scott Drew could definitely turn us around. For now, I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt that he is clean, rather than assume that he is a cheater just because he is having success. I don't know what his salary is though and what it would take for us to lure him.

Does he have ties to the midwest?

Yes, guess where Scott Drew graduated from? Butler in 1993

He took over the coaching job from his father Homer at? Valparaiso (that's in Indiana too).

I agree. Drew would be a great choice for a new hire.

At this point, i dont care if we start to cheat. Lets get back to winning

What has Scott Drew ever done to make people assume he's cheating? I know he hired John Wall's AAU coach on his staff, but that is done all the time at programs all over the country. Is there something else he's done?
