Schwartz column.....

---------Doesn't matter what your dumb ass thought Penn St and Wisconsin would be. Turns out they are top 10 teams, but you probably think those two game would have been easier than Playing ND and MSU, because, well you "thought" they would be tougher before the season.

^^^^^^^^
Yawn.

PC is right,,,we've lost more at home in the last few years than Stoops has in 18 at Oklahoma....NINE losses at home to be exact...ONCE every TWO years, However, I just need to keep reminding myself that Ferments is a "better fit" for Iowa.

That isn't what you said. It is like you know nothing about college football and think that teams don't lose to teams they shouldn't.

Vogs - All those teams you referenced beat teams they were supposed to beat....we got beat by NDS and throttled by N'Western...or did that "satisfy" you?

I accurately pointed out that losing to teams they shouldn't kept both Penn St. and Michigan out of the college football playoffs.

Yeah we lost to NDSU, and Northwester and it sucked balls. We should beat them 8/9 times out of 10. It didn't happen, quit being such a baby and move on. Thank God the team and KF isn't like you dipshits on the board and dwell on these things for days/weeks/months/hell ever years.

Certainly not defending Ferentz but comparing his record at Iowa to Stoop's record at Oklahoma is just plain silly. Oklahoma was competing for and winning National titles long before Stoops showed up and will be after Stoops leaves.

Yes they were before, but that doesn't mean they will be after he leaves. See Nebraska.

Name one team that Ferments beats 6/7 times out of 10 not named Purdue or Illinois.

Have you guys ever dealt with Oklahoma fans? They want Stoops fired after week one, after week two, after playoff losses, after bcs bowl game losses.....

So Penn St. season is a failure, they didn't make the playoffs.....OSU season is a failure, they didn't win the B1G.....Michigan's and Wisconsin's seasons are complete flops, Nebraska's season was a failure, and of course Iowa might as well not have even played football this year......

Did I sum up your position correctly Playa
I'm happy the hawks finished strong, but I hate the argument that since other teams Crap their pants, we should be ok with it when Iowa does.

Who said it was "ok" to lose to teams you should beat? All I am pointing out is that it happens to most every team, most every year. If it was so easy to beat every team you should, there would be lots more undefeated teams. For some reason many like to think that Iowa is the only team that loses games they shouldn't, when in fact it happens all the time.

So what??? At least they demand more than mediocrity for their millions spent,,,how refreshing is that. Ferments feels ZERO pressure to do anything more than go to "meh" Bowls so Nancy and John Deere can travel to Florida for a few days and live it up snapping plenty of pics with the Polaroid 110.

Expectations for most were to win the division at the start of the year and that obviously fell short; so while we can be thankful the last 3 games finished the way they did it's still ok to want more. If we win the bowl game that will build some nice momentum for recruiting and maybe more of these guys will think twice before de-committing.

Good point. They weren't even competing for NCs in the 12 years prior to Stoops getting there. No double digit winning seasons or conference championships in that span. Since then, they've won 10 conference championships.

Every Iowa fan would like to see more success, at least every Iowa fan I know would. It's just not a zero sum game as you suggest.

The extension, contract, and terms are absurd, i do not know a single fan, or poster here, that doesn't agree with that. KF has issues that bother me, some have likely cost the Hawkeyes some wins....He also has some strengths...some have likely won Iowa some games.

I can't help in starting to take pleasure in your angst. You writhe and moan and decry "fans accepting mediocrity". That is your choice.... be miserable, be angry. Stomp your feet and demand more. By all means, please don't "accept mediocrity".

This season, overall, will be a touch of a disappointment, even with a bowl win. That is somewhat disheartening. I sure have enjoyed these last 3-4 weeks. The team has been inconsistent. Off the field recruiting drama has been tough(but in my opinion overblown). Yet, these last 3 weeks have been Great. 8-4, while not really what anyone wanted going into the year, is good, not great, not even very good, but good.

We could have beaten NDSU, and NW, and almost everyone (except maybe you and a few others, those that pisss excellence and won't stand for mediocrity) would have been pretty satisfied with the year at 10-2. But guess what, we still wouldn't have played for the B1G championship.

I expect Iowa to win the games the "should" and be competitive in every single game they play. They have come up short on both of those things. I have been angry, discontent, disheartened, and even apathetic(which is probably worst of all). I have also been excited, hopeful, and down right euphoric after a few of the wins this year.

All of these things can be true.

Carry on though, burn that torch, rail against the mediocrity ! Choose to be unsatisfied, ever, after any amount of success....sounds awesome.

Go Hawks, please get better so Playmaker can give it an f'n rest.

Man that 12-0 start to last yr spoiled us. I remember back when an 8-4 yr with a chance at a bowl win being a good spot to be in. But I sure felt like coming into this year our expectations were through the roof. There were lots of reasons to feel that way. Yet even with those expectations we know that running through the season is tough. But like many others I have a tough time getting past losing games we shouldn't especially at home. I'm sure winning a bowl game for the seniors and team overall will be looked at by them as a good thing worth celebrating. And we could use all the positive momentum going into the end of recruiting this year and going forward as we can get. So sure some can Debbie downer it and I understand. Yet next yr with a new QB and not having King or Johnson will just be a bit of a rebuild mode. So I hope the positive outweighs the negative going into the off season
