School colors

Do our school colors help land recruits [maybe, a little bit]. I recall Captain Kirk in a commercial saying, "You'd look good in black and gold." Granted, our uniforms, especially football, are stunning and I believe, the best in the nation. BUT... those aren't our school colors! Iowa wears black and YELLOW. Our true colors are black and OLD GOLD, which is more akin to Purdue's colors. Are we the only school not wearing our school colors? How do you feel about this issue? Though prolly not as beautiful, should we be wearing our true colors?
