Ben missed out on a player

Even though he's Belgian he's been playing in Spain, which makes me believe he knows Alavaro, who is from Spain. If so, it din't help.

I'de guess at this point Iowa has only so much NIL money and if another team can pay more it will be tough to beat.

There are still plenty of players out there and I'd guess many of them won't be getting top dollar.

Still, it would be great to get another transfer or two to help solidify the roster.

Not that huge of a miss it doesn't seem like. We need a 6'10 plus lane clogger with fouls to give. And a backup pg. The backup pg isn't so much for this yrs playing time as Ben will run the wheels off of Stirtz playing him big mins. But we sure need one for just in case he gets hurt/foul trouble etc. So those two things to me should be at the top of his needs list.

We already have plenty of 6'5-6'8 guys that'll be playing on the wing. Between the Fulgarious, Manyawu Koch and Banks they have the forward spots pretty well taken care of. the 2 guard spot with Hausen, Howard and Combs is in great shape. That's pretty crowded to me if anything

Way too expensive. We've been out of it for a while.

Ben is going to have to find success right out of the gate. If we struggle too much then people are going to start thinking Lickliter 2.0 and patience will go out the door. I don’t expect Lickliter 2.0 as Ben has gained the respect of his peers. That says a lot about his character and knowledge.

Yet, he has played at lower tier divisions but been very successful at every thing he has done. The fact is that Iowa fans have grown a little weary and impatient with the basketball program. This is evidenced in the fact that we just got rid of the winningest Iowa basketball coach in Iowa history. March madness results killed Fran.

There are main ways to accomplish being the winningest head coach in a programs history. One is longevity and another could be you’re just damn good or at least above average in your conference and the fans and administration are happy with that. Hmmm whom could I be thinking about here??? The year 2004 was a long, long time ago.

Obviously people also realize in some circumstances a sports program could be in much worse shape. So out of fear of the program declining to a worse condition people accept better than average and concede on ever being great. Too risky to gamble and roll the dice.

Yet here we find ourselves ditching the winningest coach in Iowa basketball history. Not in terms of March madness but in overall wins. Go figure. Tolerance and acceptance in one sports program but intolerance in another.
