beyond being 'huge' the reason I think he'll eventually be a great player is because he is an exceptional athlete. With McMahon out with a hernia that just might have opened a door for him.

It will be interesting to see if Scherff or Woody Orne get reps with MacMillan out for the foreseeable future. It would tell me a lot about Scherff's upside if he is able to beat out a 5th-year senior who is supposedly the strongest player on the team.

Scherff definitely looks like one large man. The other one that stuck out was big Carl Davis. That guy is a load. The ground probably rumbles whenever those 2 go head to head.

again, the 'biggest' thing about him is his 'talent' not his size.

Just remember, I've been high on Scherff from the outset. And your reasoning was among one of the many reasons why I anticipated that Scherff would end up being yet another Hawk success story.
I've never gushed about his size ... but what I did gush about was his exceptional athleticism for his size. Furthermore, I also loved the attitude that the young man had ... definitely had an "edge' to him. Lastly, he was a relative blank slate ... which suggested that the coaches would be able to teach him how to do things the right way from the outset.
Anyhow, I think that Scherff will initially be a little raw at the start of the season. But I think that he'll develop and progress. If a young man is going to make errors ... I'd rather have them be aggressive errors ... and I think that is the type that we'll be seeing from him.
I'm excited about the young man!
